Wolfsburg – Leipzig Prediction Bundesliga, Matchday 5 on Saturday, 09/27/2025 at 3:30 p.m.
After their opening win in Heidenheim, the Wolves needlessly squandered their chance for a great start to the Bundesliga season. Despite some favorable results, they only managed to pick up two points in their next three matches.
The Red Bulls, on the other hand, are heading in the opposite direction. Unimpressed by their initial debacle in Munich (0-6), the Saxons are now in third place in the table.
Thanks to their steep upward trajectory, the visitors’ current 9-point run could well be extended to another three points in Lower Saxony, according to my Wolfsburg Leipzig tips. I have accordingly noted an away win in my betting app.
The omens for such a venture do not seem unfavorable in any case. Since VfL last won three points in front of their home crowd back in January, home wins are clearly not the Wolves’ forte.
Despite taking the lead in the 9th minute of stoppage time, Wolfsburg once again failed to seal the deal in their last attempt against Cologne (3-3) – and almost immediately conceded the equalizer.
Nevertheless, my Wolfsburg Leipzig prediction also shows that Paul Simonis’ team is not exactly facing the strongest away team in the Bundesliga.
But although two wins from the last 12 away games are anything but glorious from RB’s point of view, I still see the Saxon visitors here – in terms of negative statistics – as the one-eyed man among the blind.
Wolfsburg – Leipzig prediction & bets
Since I favor an away win on Saturday afternoon, I’m also assuming a low-scoring game in my Wolfsburg Leipzig prediction. RB did come away from Lower Saxony with a 3-2 win in the spring, but
since the Bulls have scored just four goals in their last nine away games, I’m going for the under 2.5 goals at attractive odds of around 2.55.
In my opinion, the tip “Both teams to score: NO” seems to fit perfectly. At an even more attractive odds of around 2.70, this also protects me against a possible shutout victory for the Wolves.
However, I have decided on a 1-0 win for the Saxons at odds of 12.5 at Winamax Sports Betting.
The Wolves recently lost by this score in Dortmund, while RB won their last away game in Mainz by the same score of 1-0.
What you need to consider when betting on Wolfsburg vs. Leipzig
- Wolfsburg has not won any of its last ten home games in the Bundesliga, drawing seven of them. During this period, the team scored an average of 1.2 goals per game and conceded 1.5 goals.
- The 1-0 win against Mainz earlier this month was only Leipzig’s fifth away win since the start of last season, i.e. in 19 games.
- In eight of Leipzig’s last nine Bundesliga away games, there were no goals scored by either side. However, the exception was the 3-2 win against Wolfsburg in April.
- Leipzig’s David Raum and Wolfsburg’s Maximilian Arnold have both set up 13 chances, more than any other player in the Bundesliga.
Wolfsburg – Leipzig: AI tip & odds analysis
The assumptions of our in-house Wolfsburg Leipzig AI forecast make it clear that I am taking a rather countercyclical position with my tips, which results in correspondingly high odds.
Despite all the rather demoralizing statistics, artificial intelligence has determined a probability of around 40% for a home win, which ultimately leads to a tip in favor of the Wolves.
Of course, according to my analysis, this cannot be categorically ruled out. However, since only Leipzig has caused a positive stir recently, a win for the hosts is not exactly on the cards.
In my opinion, the same applies to the AI combination of over 2.5 goals & both teams to score at a meager odds of 1.70. Since only one of RB’s last nine away games has seen goals from both sides, the potential return here is simply too low.
And since it doesn’t fit, I’m also crossing out the third AI prediction. I’m also staying away from the over 3.0 Asian goal line at odds of around 1.85 for (hopefully) good reason!
The best odds for Wolfsburg vs. Leipzig
While artificial intelligence and I are anything but in agreement when it comes to assessing the respective chances of victory, the Wolfsburg Leipzig odds from the old and new betting providers are pretty much right in the middle.
With odds of around 2.50 for a home win and slightly higher odds of 2.55 for a win for the Bulls, the bookies are leaving it open from the start to decide on a favorite.
Given the narrow margins, it is even quite conceivable that there will be some movement in the odds – and after minimal shifts, RB Leipzig may even go into the match as slight favorites.
In any case, the odds for a draw remain the highest. With the Wolfsburg Leipzig tip, you can be fairly certain that even at kick-off, you can still expect 3.8 times your stake if the points are shared after 90 minutes.
All in all, it remains to be said that – regardless of my decision – the high-odds draw is also very attractive here. After all, seven of the Wolves’ last ten home games have ended without a winner.
Even for those who support one of the two teams, it may therefore make sense to hedge against a draw. Especially since the “draw money back” option still offers odds above 1.80 for a win by the visitors.
Since the bookmakers rate both teams as roughly equal in advance, the same naturally also applies to the 2-way bet in favor of the Wolves!
Wolfsburg vs Leipzig match analysis:
Statistically speaking, it is a mystery why the bookmakers are reluctant to name the Leipzig visitors as the clear favorites here:
After all, VfL is not only struggling with the longest home drought in the club’s history. The head-to-head record also clearly favors the Red Bulls in the Wolfsburg Leipzig prediction.
RB has won five of the last seven matches against the Lower Saxony team. Since the beginning of 2022, Ole Werner’s team has not had a better record against any other Bundesliga team.
With Leipzig currently enjoying three league wins in a row for the first time in around a year, there is not much to complain about in terms of the Saxons’ current form.
However, the style of play at the Volkswagen Arena is likely to be quite similar. Both teams will try to bridge the field in no time at all with their fast players.
This has been a reliable strategy so far this season; only Bayern (192) and TSG Hoffenheim (168) have made more sprints than the current rivals from Wolfsburg (168) and Leipzig (184).
However, given the deficits in other areas, there is almost no alternative but to focus entirely on the factor of “speed” here.
When it comes to winning the ball high up the pitch, VfL and RB are only 17th and 16th in the league.
VfL Wolfsburg form check
The Bundesliga had actually served the Lower Saxony club a dream start on a silver platter – but VfL simply failed to take advantage of it.
With very late goals conceded against Mainz and Wolfsburg, Wolfsburg missed the opportunity to follow up their deserved opening win in Heidenheim with further three points.
In this respect, it fits in quite well with the picture that the team recently missed out on a possible point in Dortmund, given that the game was fairly even overall.
So instead of proudly boasting 10 points, which was actually within the realm of possibility, the hosts now find themselves in a somewhat uncomfortable situation.
If my Wolfsburg vs. Leipzig prediction proves correct, the team could find itself back in the relegation battle with five points after as many games.
RB Leipzig form check
A few weeks ago, Leipzig was facing a somewhat unpredictable future in light of major personnel changes and the newly appointed coach, but the smoke seems to be clearing now.
Nine points after four match days should fully meet the Saxons’ expectations, as the team is now in the fight for Champions League spots right from the start after a lost year.
On top of that, the young squad is showing remarkable stability. After conceding half a dozen goals in Munich, they have conceded just one goal in the three games since then.
The fact that the outlook is promising not only for my Wolfsburg vs. Leipzig prediction, but also for the rest of the season, is thanks in particular to the botched previous season.
As Leipzig is foregoing traveling across the continent for the first time since its promotion to the Bundesliga, the team can concentrate fully on the Bundesliga from the outset this time around.
