In mid-August, Jerome Boateng terminated his contract with Linzer ASK, the last club of his career. Now, the 2014 World Cup winner has announced the end of his active career in an Instagram post. “It’s time,” wrote the 37-year-old, who came up through the youth ranks at Hertha Berlin and later played for HSV, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich. The defender made 76 appearances for Germany, his most important being the 2014 World Cup final, when Germany defeated Argentina in extra time to become world champions.
