Champions League, Wednesday, 06.11.2024 at 18:45
No goals on the left, no goals on the right – well, it looks like we’re in for quite an offensive ride! In the Champions League, we have a special game to deal with on Wednesday, one that I will now take a close look at in my Shakhtar Donetsk Young Boys tip.
When Schalke kick off, the uncertainty on both sides is likely to be palpable. Since neither club has scored so far this CL season, I’m thinking a little more defensively and have also discovered that the Ukrainians are the slight favorites
This means that I agree with the betting combination of “Double chance 1X” at “Under 4.5 goals”. It would be a bit of a surprise if any goals were scored here at all, given the harmless play on both sides.
The Shakhtar Donetsk Young Boys odds are on my side, as they also believe that the “home side” are ahead. On average, I can see 2.05 to 3.30, so a win for the Ukrainians is by no means a foregone conclusion.
There is plenty to report in my analysis, because this is a match that has it all. And who knows, maybe neither of them will score in the end!
The bookmakers’ forecast
Since both teams are still completely winless, it was not easy for the bookmakers to pick a favorite. Shakhtar snatched this role in the end, with the odds for a win averaging 2.05.
The visitors from Switzerland, who are also struggling in their league, are more difficult to be optimistic about. If you still want to take the risk, you can get odds of 3.30.
Of course, a draw wouldn’t really help anyone, so perhaps that’s why it’s a likely option? Splitting the points would give you odds of 3.60.
KI prediction Shakhtar Donetsk vs Young Boys: ChatGPT
How does ChatGPT deal with two teams that have not scored a single goal in the current competition? The AI has also spit out bets with high, medium and low risk for this tricky match.
A high risk refers to the bet on the draw. If you want to place a 1×2 bet, “Bet X” would actually be my first choice – except that it wouldn’t really benefit either team, of course.
The medium risk is a draw at half-time – very likely in my eyes. I assume that both will shy away from the risk and not want to make the first mistake. Therefore, the draw after 45 minutes fits very well.
According to the AI, goals on both sides represent a low risk. On the one hand, this is quite possible, as the defenses are not stable. On the other hand, the clubs don’t score either, which is why this bet is perhaps riskier than it seems at first glance.
Analysis: Shakhtar Donetsk vs Young Boys
An absolute perennial favorite in the Champions League, but not in the best rounds! Shakhtar Donetsk have made it past the preliminary round four times in their history, most recently in 2018.
At the moment, it looks very much as if they will be knocked out in the group stage again. After a 0-0 draw against Bologna to open the tournament, they lost 3-0 to Atalanta Bergamo before going down 1-0 to FC Arsenal.
Two shots on goal in total? Far too few to attract attention offensively! So the Ukrainians were lucky that the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal was a modest one.
Basically, of course, it’s a disadvantage for the team to have to make do without home games. On Wednesday, for example, they play at Schalke, so there’s no feeling of being at home.
Odds Analysis
It’s not easy to come up with really accurate tips here. I would actually consider a 0:0 at half-time, which shows the offensive difficulties of both clubs. The odds at Betano are 3.10 for this.
Is it possible that the game will end 0-0 straight away? Absolutely! If you want to take the risk of this result bet, you can look forward to odds of 10.25.
If goals are scored, I think the home side are more likely to take the lead. If the Ukrainians score the first goal, you’ll have to pay odds of 1.70.
Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Young Boys: Who dares to attack more?
The team has not scored four times in a row since October 2021 and now threatens a repeat. With five wins and two draws, things have gone quite well in the domestic league recently, but the quality of the opponents is of course not quite as high.
In 2016, in the Champions League qualifiers, Donetsk met Young Boys from Bern twice. Although they won the home game 2:0, they lost away from home and were eventually eliminated on penalties.
Clubs from Switzerland have been on the other side a total of twelve times, and with eight wins, one draw and three defeats, the overall balance is still quite positive.
The Young Boys are hoping for effectiveness
The Young Boys should not think too much about the joyful event a few years ago, because they have enough to do with the current situation. And that is: crisis, in all competitions!
In the Champions League, the team is completely without a point, and there have been no goals either. 0:3 against Aston Villa, 0:5 against Manchester City and 0:1 against Inter Milan – the opponents were of course not easy either.
At the same time, the team was also somewhat unlucky. The yellow-and-blacks took 37 shots and the fact that they failed to score a single goal was nothing short of a minor miracle
With Donetsk, Atalanta Bergamo, Stuttgart, Celtic Glasgow and Red Star Belgrade, their next opponents are not easy, of course, but there are no longer any big names with big ambitions to lift the trophy.
The Swiss should actually know how to deal with defeats, as they have more than enough in their domestic league. Six defeats after 13 rounds? Normally there aren’t even that many after a full season!
Winning three times and conceding just once, the club are failing to do everything they usually do off the cuff. The absolute lone wolf in attack, who is responsible for goals, goals and more goals, does not exist either.
With Mohamed Camara and Jaouen Hadjam, two more stars have now been added to the injured list. Miguel Chaiwa, Patric Pfeiffer and Tanguy Zoukrou are also unlikely to be fit again.
My Shakhtar Donetsk Young Boys tip:
Who will pick themselves up and score for the first time in the competition? Both Young Boys from Bern and Shakhtar Donetsk are completely without a goal, while the Ukrainians have at least managed to collect a small point. And yet, the styles of play are sometimes very different.
The Swiss are trying everything, shooting wildly in the direction of the opponent’s box, but unfortunately failing to score. Shakhtar, on the other hand, don’t even have the chances to score.
Nevertheless, I think Donetsk are more ruthless, which is why I set the “double chance 1X”. At the same time, I don’t believe that two teams that are still completely goalless will set off on a great spectacle. My tip is as follows:
Donezk to score under 4.5 goals!
