Bundesliga 11th matchday, Saturday, 23/11/2024 at 3:30 pm
A double-digit place in the table? No, the runner-up doesn’t like that at all! VfB Stuttgart is not really getting going in our 1st Bundesliga tips. What could be better than to get off to a flying start with a home game against the bottom team after the international break!
Admittedly, at first glance, my VfB Stuttgart Bochum betting tip sounds a lot like a game that is heading for a goal. But: the defensive weaknesses of the Swabians have not escaped me, which is why I am betting on both teams to score.
Yes, VfL may be the league’s point-less shooting gallery away from home. But under the new coach Dieter Hecking, I suspect there is a certain sense of optimism, which immediately before the break already resulted in a draw against champions Leverkusen.
The VfB Stuttgart Bochum odds don’t want to know anything about a possible upset for the time being, but with an average of 1.30 to 7.70, the values in our bookmakers’ offers are very clear and different.
A fickle vice-champion and a bottom-dweller that finally wants to get off to a flying start – these two clubs are perhaps not that different after all! And who knows, maybe Hecking’s experience will prevail in the end and VfB will slip into a crisis.
The betting providers’ prediction?
Under Sebastian Hoeneß, Stuttgart is almost unbeatable at home, and Bochum has not yet been able to collect a single point away from home. It is therefore no wonder that a home win on Saturday only comes at odds of 1.30.
It has been an awfully long time since Bochum last won at VfB, which was in 1987. It is therefore only logical that the bookies are very cautious this weekend and are offering odds of 7.70 for a win.
Stuttgart has already shared the points four times this season, with everything from a 0-0 to a 3-3 included. Should it also come to a draw against Bochum, the odds would create a 5.95.
KI-Prognose VfB Stuttgart vs Bochum: Darauf tippt ChatGPT
How do you assess a game at ChatGPT that can only have one winner? As usual, the AI suggested three tips to me in response to my query, marked with high, medium and low risk.
If you want to take a very high risk, the AI suggests betting on a Stuttgart win despite a 0-3 handicap. A win with a margin of at least four goals? I would be very cautious here! The VfB is not in great form itself, so it could well be a close game.
At medium risk, you are suggested that the home side will lead at half-time and also win in the end. In three of the five away games, Bochum avoided trailing at half-time… In my opinion, the betting suggestion is therefore neither particularly realistic nor far-fetched.
I definitely agree with the low risk, the BTS. The Swabians have only played to zero once, Bochum have scored in seven of the last eight games (only not against FC Bayern). Goals on both sides are absolutely possible!
International break – thank God! At VfB Stuttgart, there are currently a few question marks wandering around, because nobody can really explain why this season has started so mixed.
It’s good that it wouldn’t be quite as brilliant as 2023/24, when there was an excellent second place, that much was clear to most. But eleventh place after ten match days is a real disappointment.
There have only been three wins, and the four draws gave away far too many points. Before the break, Stuttgart lost 2-3 to Eintracht Frankfurt, and the other two defeats were to Bayern (0-4) and Freiburg (1-3).
Nine goals conceded in these three games alone, a whopping 19 in total? No, no one can be satisfied defensively! Four times already, at least three goals have been conceded, and Mainz also managed this feat.
Odds Analysis
18 goals conceded at Bochum, 13 at Stuttgart! These two teams concede the most goals after the break. Therefore, I suggest you consider the bet “More goals in HT2”, which has odds of 1.90 at Betano. What’s more, a great welcome bonus awaits you here.
At the same time, I could well imagine that both teams will score in the second half for the same reason. If you place this bet, you can expect odds of 2.55.
And for those who love the big risk, the area of result betting is of course the right place for you. I’m thinking of a narrow victory for the Swabians with a certain drama factor. The possible result: 3:2! If this bet pays off, you’ll be in with a great odds of 19.5.
VfB Stuttgart vs. Bochum: The defense lines in focus!
A clean sheet was achieved – and strangely enough against the champions from Leverkusen. Home games were an absolute certainty last season. This time, the Swabians are having a much harder time, apart from the 5:1 win against Dortmund.
The 2-1 win against Kiel was hard-fought, and against Mainz the team threw away two leads in a 3-3 draw. In the 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim, they were lucky to equalize in injury time and almost lost.
There was also pure drama in the last game against Frankfurt. Up until the 86th minute, VfB were seemingly hopelessly 3-0 down, but then scored twice and even equalized in the last second to make it 3-3! The VAR conceded the goal, the collapse was there.
Bochum wants to surprise
There is another problem for the runners-up: Serhou Guirassy, the life insurance for 2023/24, is no longer there. Usually they manage to compensate for his absence, but not when it comes to winning penalties! Four of the five penalties were awarded in all competitive games, including the last three in the league.
Six goals conceded in the first half, 13 in the second? The club regularly collapses after the break. Of course, the fans know that, historically, very little can go wrong against Bochum.
They haven’t lost in 25 home games, and the last time VfB didn’t get any points was in 1987. Okay, even based on VfL Bochum’s current statistics, it can be deduced that an away win on Saturday is very unlikely.
The only team in the league without a win has two measly points, 30 goals conceded and only ten goals scored – the safety net, 15th place, is already seven points away!
Dieter Hecking, who is hard to beat in terms of experience, was hired as a firefighter a few days ago. The first game under the new coach was against Bayer Leverkusen, of all teams.
The result: a 1-1 draw! A careful first success, Bochum equalized shortly before the final whistle. It was the first time since match day one that the league’s worst defense only conceded one goal.
The point was scored at home – almost logical, really. Bochum have been very weak away from home for years, with five defeats and 17 goals conceded so far.
They have conceded in each of their last 26 league games and their last clean sheet dates back to January 20, 2024. The opponent back then was, what else could it have been, VfB Stuttgart (albeit at the Ruhr Stadium)!
Will the new coach be decisive in how Saturday’s match ends? The coach has won twelve of his 27 competitive matches against Stuttgart – he has not won more against any other club!
My VfB Stuttgart Bochum Tip:
VfB Stuttgart is individually well above VfL Bochum, so far so good. The Swabians are in crisis, win far too rarely and, above all, have to work on their many defensive mistakes.
Well, of course Bochum are only too familiar with this problem. Nobody concedes more goals, especially away from home, the VfL are completely adrift. Under Dieter Hecking, everything should be better after the recent 1-1 draw against Leverkusen.
Both sets of fans know that the team has not won in Stuttgart for ages. Nevertheless, I believe that the guests will not be completely without chances, the VfB is just too uncertain for that. So my tip is:
Both Teams Score!
