It seems Besiktas were too happy too soon with their good start to the season! In recent weeks, they have once again had to realize that the desired sovereignty is simply not there.
They have been passed down the table in no time and now have to win on Sunday against the team that is right behind them in the table.
I somewhat disagree with the bookmakers’ prediction, which clearly sees the home side in the lead. That’s why I’ll tell you in my Besiktas Göztepe tip why a 2-0 home for the guests seems sensible to me.
A good start doesn’t guarantee a good season – Besiktas knows this better than anyone! With six wins and two draws, the black eagles had actually got off to a great start in the new round, and were able to knock on the door of the top.
But then it came much too early, the dreaded slump. While Galatasaray continued to win, Besiktas lost ground. The result of only one point from the last three games: Ten points behind!
Apparently the 1-2 at Galatasaray left its mark. A few days later, Besiktas lost 1-3 at home to Kasimpasa and could not get beyond a goalless draw against Basaksehir.
Without a win in three games, with just one victory in the last four – this is not how Besiktas had imagined the fall season. It is little consolation that they have recently managed narrow victories against Lyon and Malmö in the Europa League.
The top priority is the Süper Lig, after all! Besiktas finally wants to be champions again, but if you fall ten points behind after such a short time, you have to lower your sights.
In the 0-0 draw against Basaksehir just before the international break, the team failed to score for the first time this season, so is the attack now also in a medium-severe crisis?
It was the fifth clean sheet in the current season, but 19 own goals in eleven rounds are not exactly scary either. Only six different players have scored, with Ciro Immobile the most successful with eight goals.
Not much remains of the 5-0 victory that Besiktas celebrated against Galatasaray in the national Super Cup. At least Göztepe should be an opponent that Besiktas can easily beat.
The Eagles have won ten of the last 13 duels and only lost once. 2:0, 3:1 n.E., 2:1, 2:1, 2:1, 1:2? Nevertheless, the most recent results do not suggest that they have everything under control from the first to the last minute.
Tight results are currently the order of the day, and Göztepe is right behind Besiktas in the table. Nevertheless, the bookmakers apparently have a rather clear outcome in mind.
The bookies are offering average odds of 1.50 to 5.50. Will the visitors be unsettled by this? Göztepe only returned to the Süper Lig a few months ago and knows that their performances in the top flight are still a bit too inconsistent.
In concrete terms, this means that at home, they do well, but not so much away from home! In their own stadium, I count five wins and a 2-2 draw against Fenerbahce, with a strong 14 goals scored. Away from home, the last three games have ended without any points.
The team has collected a measly two points and has conceded five goals. True, the defeats (1:2, 0:1 and 3:4) were only by a single goal, but that doesn’t get you any points, of course.
Particularly bitter: if Göztepe scores a goal away from home, this lead is always squandered. At Betano, you can get odds of 2.95 for betting that the guests will score the 1-0. If you say that Besiktas will win the match after being behind, you’ll get a great 6.50 – Betano bonus on top!
Crisis is back in Istanbul! To Besiktas’ chagrin, not at Galatasaray and Fenerbahce either, but only at the Eagles. They are hardly winning anymore, and goals are now in short supply.
Göztepe, one of the league’s strongest teams at home, is having a much harder time away from home, which is certainly good news for the Eagles. Nevertheless, the guests are making all the results close.
Since a look at the direct comparison has shown that Besiktas has not always had an easy time against Göztepe in recent years, I have decided on the following tip:
A 2-0 HC is enough for Göztepe to “win” !
