Allsvenskan Matchday 16, Monday, 14.07.2025 at 19:00
We’re taking a trip to Sweden together, but not to explore the meadows and forests, of course. Be honest: how often have you followed the Allsvenskan?
The Swedish league has been underway for three or four months now, so the teams are well into their stride. In my Sirius Mjallby tip, I’m going to introduce you to two clubs that couldn’t be more different. That makes it all the more interesting for you that I’m still predicting goals at both ends.
If we enter Sirius, the host of this match, into a search engine, we quickly discover that it has very little to do with Harry Potter. After all, we’re not talking about Sirius Black, but IK Sirius Fotboll.
The journey takes us to Uppsala, which is not far from Stockholm. The local club is currently struggling, as results are not going as hoped.
After 14 rounds, the team has three wins, four draws, and seven losses. They have only kept a clean sheet once, conceding at least two goals in seven games.
On a positive note, they have only missed two goals of their own. With 20:25 goals, that’s an average of 3.2, which is quite respectable.
After 14 match days, can I already give an initial assessment of whether I like Sirius better at home or away? The Uppsala club finished its first two home games with zero points.
Things are going a little better now. One (very narrow) defeat in the last four games, two wins – overall, things can continue like this. 3:1, 1:2, 2:0, 1:1, 0:3 and 0:1? In terms of goals, it’s hard to predict anything.
Nine of 14 matches, which you might find interesting, were tied after the first 45 minutes. So if you bet on a “draw at half-time,” you can get odds of 2.25 at Oddset.
Added to this is the Oddset bonus, which all new customers can claim – up to a maximum of $100! At Sirius, they know that when it comes to Mjallby, there’s not much to smile about.
After six consecutive defeats, they ended their losing streak in their most recent match, but remained winless with a 1-1 draw. Their last home win was four years ago, so I would say that Sirius is rightly considered the underdog in this match.
If we look at our bookmakers, who guarantee quick payouts, the average odds are 3.50 to 1.95. That makes sense, because Mjallby is none other than the league leader.
The leaders have only lost once, and no one can keep up with them. With 29 goals, they have the best attack, and I can’t find anything to fault in their 12 goals conceded either. Mjallby are capable of both big wins and efficient performances.
Their only defeat of the still young season came away from home, but that’s no reason not to trust the team. Mjallby took the lead in the 1-2 defeat to AIK, but couldn’t hold on to it.
Interesting: Only one away game has ended in a goalless draw at half-time. Since Mjallby has the best attack in the league, the question for you is whether the bet “Over 1.5 goals” makes sense.
At Betano, at any rate, it would give us odds of 1.78, so they seem to be quite confident that the visitors will offer something offensively. However, Sirius still has a chance, as they have conceded goals in six of their eight away games.
They have conceded goals in ten games, eight times exactly once. This is exciting because Interwetten has a very nice bet on offer. Namely, that you say: Sirius will score exactly once. If this happens, you can secure odds of 2.55.
Can Mjallby hold on to the top spot in the Allsvenskan? They are only one point ahead of Hammarby, but with only one defeat so far, they don’t need to go into this matchday with any worries.
Sirius is far too vulnerable defensively for my liking, but at least they have scored plenty of goals. Those who watch the hosts’ games are usually not disappointed or bored.
Since the visitors’ defense is solid but often concedes exactly one goal, I have decided to go for a classic here. And that is:
Both teams to score!
