Champions League, Qualification, 2nd Round, Second Leg, Wednesday, 07/30/2025, 9:00 p.m.
Nothing is lost yet – but a 0-1 deficit has to be overturned, and that away from home. The second leg of the second qualifying round of the Champions League is coming up, and I can now turn my attention to my Servette Geneva Viktoria Pilsen tip.
The Swiss go into their home game with a slight advantage, but can they defend it? I can at least imagine that it will be a close race to qualify. That’s why I’m making the “both teams to score” bet appealing to you in my current analysis.
It was one of those games that could probably have gone on forever. Viktoria Pilsen ran desperately, fired 25 shots at the opponent’s goal, recorded nine shots on target, nine corners, and 62% possession.
The result: a 0-1 defeat against Servette Geneva. The Czech team fell behind after just twelve minutes and was unable to recover. But the fans know that it wasn’t their team’s performance that was at fault.
Hopes are correspondingly high that they can still progress. Pilsen last appeared in the Champions League group stage in 2022/23, but there have been some respectable results in between.
In 2023/24, Viktoria was narrowly eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Conference League by Fiorentina, and last season it reached the round of 16 of the Europa League – and the 1-2 and 1-1 results against Lazio Rome are not that bad.
The Czech club attracts attention from time to time, so I think it’s entirely possible that it can still turn things around against Servette Geneva. The season has already started in the Chance Liga.
After a 5-1 win against Pardubice, the team drew 1-1 against Jablonec, and it couldn’t have gone more unlucky. The equalizer came in the fifth minute of stoppage time!
The one goal conceded against Pardubice was an own goal, so it’s fair to say that Pilsen has a lot to offer defensively.
Interesting: The three goals they’ve conceded this season have all come in the first half. So if you want to place a bet on “Geneva to score in the first half,” Betano is offering odds of 2.40.
In the 2023/24 season, when the Czechs made it to the quarterfinals of the Conference League, Pilsen faced Servette Geneva once before. There were no goals, but Viktoria won the penalty shootout.
Three games, one goal – not much has really happened between these two teams yet. How do the bookmakers assess the situation? You can find interesting odds in our best sports betting apps.
As for Wednesday’s victory, the average odds are 1.95 to 3.75 – from the visitors’ point of view! However, the picture is somewhat different when we look at who will advance.
1.60 to 2.35, the Swiss are ahead here based on the first leg. Servette Geneva knows, of course, that the 1-0 win in the first leg was down to a good dose of luck.
A few days after the lucky win, the Super League kicked off – lucky for those who had an away game against Young Boys Bern. They lost 1-3, conceding the first two goals after just 15 minutes.
The Geneva team managed only one shot on target, while 260 passes and 32% possession did not exactly make for a strong performance. Of course, it didn’t help the team that Bradley Mazikou was sent off after just eight minutes.
Incidentally, Servette has never made it through the Champions League group stage. The team last tried its luck in 2023/24, but was knocked out in the third round by Glasgow Rangers.
Viktoria Pilsen will probably still be wondering why they lost the first leg against Servette Geneva. The Czech side put in a good performance and can now go into the second leg with confidence.
I definitely think the Czech top club is capable of making it a very close contest. A goal should be possible; in fact, the first match against Servette deserved at least one goal.
At the same time, however, the home side naturally has the advantage of a lead. For this reason, I’m going for an absolute classic:
Both teams to score!
