Shortly before kick-off on the first matchday of the new season, FC Heidenheim announced that Patrick Mainka had extended his contract early until 2029. His original contract would have run until 2027. The 30-year-old has played 258 competitive games for the Swabians to date. The 1.94-meter-tall defender played the full 90 minutes in every game in the last two Bundesliga seasons.
