Premier League, Saturday, 11.05.2024
Tipping around on the Betway sports betting app is not only fun, but also creates opportunities to place one or two lucrative soccer bets. After all, some of the offers this weekend are quite impressive.
During my research, a very special West Ham Luton tip caught my eye this Saturday, which promises odds of 2.72 as a combination bet and also has a good chance of success
I strongly assume that the dismay over West Ham’s bitter 5-0 defeat against Chelsea in the last Premier League matchday has been kept within narrow limits in Luton and in large parts of Bedfordshire.
The promoted side are currently fighting against immediate relegation to the Championship and now have to face the Hammers from East London once again.
All the better, then, if the capital city side have just suffered a terrible defeat. That should increase their own chances of scoring. At least that could be the thinking of some Luton supporters!
In WHU’s favor, they haven’t lost any of their last ten matches against a promoted team since a 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest last August. They have even won six of their last seven games at home!
Luton, on the other hand, have failed to win any of their last five away games against West Ham in the league (3 draws, 2 defeats).
However, this is their first visit to United since a 2-2 draw in December 1992 and their first in the Premiership since a 0-0 draw in August 1991.
But can these promising figures really reassure London fans given the Hammers’ current slump, which has taken on historic proportions?
Whether you believe the visitors will win or not, WHU games should be high entertainment value this Saturday!
West Ham have lost three of their last four Premier League games, conceding five goals in each of their last two defeats (2-5 to Crystal Palace, 0-5 to Chelsea).
In fact, the Hammers have already conceded five or more goals in four different league games this season, a feat only equaled in the 1965/66 season (6).
And the visitors also have the right statistical prerequisites to at least persuade me to place a bet on both teams meeting.
Watch out: Luton have both scored and conceded in 29 of their 36 Premier League games this season, something that last happened to Swindon in 1993/94 and Southampton in 1994/95.
Incidentally, the last club to have both teams score in more Premier League games in a single season was Newcastle United in 1985/86 (31 times).
Now that I’ve found a suitable “additional condition” for my West Ham Luton betting tip, the question is whether I should leave it at that or add a classic 1X2 tip.
I’m ambivalent about this, as the draw odds at providers such as Sunmaker, which incidentally comes with a great Sunmaker bonus, are generous at around 4.25 odds.
But instead of being offered the prospect of even higher away win odds, I am confronted with values of around 3.80 at this point.
However, I am much less convinced by the amount in view of the fact that Luton have only won 2 of their 18 Premier League games away from home in 2023/24 (4 draws, 12 defeats)
In the end, I make a good compromise between payout and risk with the “double chance X2” condition to additionally enrich my both-teams-meet bet.
This gives me odds of around 2.72 with most providers, which I personally find satisfactory. Especially as I simply have to expect the promoted team to be highly motivated in view of the threat of relegation
My biggest opponent at this point, however, is the statistics, at least one very specific fact that should not be completely ignored.
The Hammers usually say goodbye to the fans with a good result in the summer break.
After all, West Ham have not lost any of their last six home league games over the past six seasons (4 wins, 2 draws) – since a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the 2016/17 season.
Conclusion: West Ham’s box seems to be as open as a barn door these days! Because they are conceding goals left and right – and usually not too close!
My main expectation for Saturday is that neither of the two teams involved will end up with a clean sheet, but I’m also pinning my hopes on the Hatters picking up a point.
Luton are certainly in a position to capitalize on the Londoners’ sporting slump. Especially as they are in desperate need of points to leave the relegation zone behind them and successfully prevent an immediate relegation.
In my West Ham Luton betting tip, I believe that: Double chance X2 & Both score
