After a year, Ernest Poku is leaving Bayer 04 Leverkusen, at least temporarily: The 22-year-old Dutchman with Ghanaian roots, who was born in Hamburg, is moving to Besiktas Istanbul on loan until the end of the season. The “Black Eagles” also secured a purchase option after the end of the loan period – which Leverkusen describes as an “obligation to buy” if “certain criteria are met”. Poku joined the Werkself from Alkmaar in August 2025, for whom he scored five goals in 29 Bundesliga games.
