Premier League, Sunday, 01.09.2024 at 14:30
On Sunday afternoon, there will be a derby in the Premier League. It may not be THE big London derby, but it will also feature some big names.
The Blues and Eagles are two teams who have both fallen a little short of expectations so far.
It could therefore be exciting to see who will come out on top. My Chelsea Crystal Palace tip provides the answers:
Crystal Palace was actually considered an insider tip. Since Oliver Glasner took over in south London at the beginning of the year, things have gone uphill.
As is well known, they won six and drew one of their final seven matches of the pre-season. Now, however, the team seems to have lost its drive
The Glaziers have started the new season with two defeats. The last time – and the only time ever – they started 2017/18 with three defeats.
During the week, however, they were able to get their frustration off their chest in the EFL Cup. They won 4:0 against second division side Norwich City
The men of coach Enzo Maresca escaped with a black eye on Thursday, when they just about got through against Servette Geneva.
However, the Blues have now done their duty and qualified for the group stage of the Conference League
In the league, the Blues must now look to build on their 6-2 win over Wolves. The last two times they won by six goals, they lost the following game.
However, as you can see in the Chelsea Crystal Palace predictions, none of the bookmakers we have tested are predicting an away win
There are several reasons for this pessimism. Let’s start with the visitors. They, for their part, have a miserable derby record.
They haven’t won an away derby since November 2022, when they beat West Ham.
If we enlarge the picture a little, they have only won one of the past 21 local duels of this kind (10U, 10N).
On the other hand, the Blues have won ten of their 13 league home games at Stamford Bridge since December 2023 (1U, 2N). At the same time, they have won each of the last four home derbies.
They have also scored at least two goals in eight of their last nine league home games. Will that happen again?
Bookmakers such as Oddset are optimistic about this Chelsea Crystal Palace betting tip and leave it at odds of under 1.50.
What hovers over everything, however, is the Glaziers’ disastrous record against the Blues. I almost fell off my chair when I did the research.
The visitors have lost 80 percent of their 30 Premier League matches to date – no other team has such a poor record against them (4S, 2U, 24N).
The home side have won all of their last seven home games against the Eagles, six of them without conceding a goal.
If they manage another one-nil win, you can expect odds of around 3.10 at Intertops sports betting
Sometimes there are simply opponents that are unbeatable for a team. It could be the same with the Eagles.
The hosts may be a bit of a grab bag, but in Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke they have two players who are delivering consistently at the moment. They will help to ring in the victory.
My Chelsea Crystal Palace tip is therefore: The Blues win and at least three goals will be scored
