Dinamo Zagreb has found a successor to Sergej Jakirovic, who was recently dismissed after the 9-2 Champions League debacle against FC Bayern. Nenad Bjelica, who recently had a rather unfortunate stint as a coach in the Bundesliga with Union Berlin, is returning to his old stamping ground. The 53-year-old has coached Dinamo before; in 2018/19, he led the Croats to the knockout phase of a European competition for the first time in 50 years and won the league title. The following year, they qualified for the Champions League, but were then knocked out in the preliminary round. In April 2020, however, they were dropped despite leading the domestic league. So now the second chapter of this liaison begins.
