Arsenal – Southampton Betting tip, prediction & odds 05.10.2024

Premier League, Saturday, 05.10.2024 at 4:00 pm

Remain unbeaten for as long as possible and distance the big competition at the decisive moment – that’s how Arsenal would like to finally play the leading role in our 2024/25 Premier League master bets!

The Gunners are competing against a winless opponent at home in the Emirates after their great CL performance. It’s clear that they will be heavily favored.

In my Arsenal Southampton betting tip, I would now like to reveal to you what leads me to predict a home win with a maximum of four goals.

Arsenal have now been overshadowed by Manchester City twice, narrowly missing out on the big goal of winning the league. Now the Londoners are making a new attempt to finally be at the top again.

They probably won’t be able to afford many slip-ups, so the start to the season with four wins and two draws was at least passable. The top game against Manchester, which took place a few days ago, was also a tough one.

It was already the eighth minute of stoppage time when the Skyblues scored to make it 2-2 and Arsenal were at a loss again. The team came within an inch of being shocked by this late equalizer.

A little later, against Leicester, they squandered a 2-0 lead and it looked like it would end in another 2-2. But an own goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time caused ecstasy, and Kai Havertz even scored the 4-2.

That was a close one, dear Gunners, and not even that convincing! With a clean sheet from their first four games, Arsenal had made a great start, but now they scored twice in their own goal.

When it comes to their own goals, the Londoners just do whatever they feel like: they score them when they feel like it. Six times it rang before, six times after half-time.

Three of the four wins had a two-goal lead, the third, a 1-0 win over Tottenham, only one. Why am I emphasizing this? Quite simply because Arsenal are so clearly favored against Southampton that many will have a handicap in mind.

The HC -1 actually only has odds of 1.40, so you have to go to a HC 0-2 at Bet365 to get odds of 2.00 and, on top of that, create a strong basis for your Bet365 betting bonus.

So the Gunners would have to win by three goals, something they have never managed in 2024/25. In the Champions League last Tuesday, the home game also resulted in a rather narrow victory.

But let’s be honest: there’s really nothing to criticize about a 2-0 win against Paris St. Germain! Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka, who else, scored before half-time, after which the Londoners defended very confidently.

At first it’s hard to believe, but Southampton have actually become something of a bogey team. 3-3 and 1-1? Last season, Arsenal may have lost the points for the title against the Saints!

They have not won in three games, two wins in the last seven, that is by no means a statement. Three of the last four home games, very interesting, ended in a draw, with 1:1, 2:2 and 3:3!

Perhaps Southampton will take that as encouragement on their way to London, because with odds of 17.0 to 1.12, one thing is clear: the guests will probably have little to laugh about on Saturday.

They have already made a bad start, only managing to get a single point out of the 1-1 draw against newly promoted Ipswich. The unlucky relegation candidates are also unlucky, because the equalizer was scored here in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

0-1 against Newcastle and Nottingham, 1-3 against Brentford and Bournemouth, plus the 0-3 against Manchester United, it just doesn’t work out at all. Seven of the twelve goals conceded were conceded in the first half, so they never get off to a good start in the games.

Seven of their last nine games have been lost, across two seasons. The only slightly positive thing is that they never really hit rock bottom in 2024/25. The third goal against the Red Devils was conceded in the final minute.

Surely Arsenal, who beat Paris St. Germain 2-0, won’t have any problems against a winless Southampton? Admittedly, there is a lot to suggest that Arsenal will put in a solid performance on Saturday.

I was a little surprised that a lot went wrong against the Saints in recent years. Besides, the Gunners don’t ambush their opponents at the moment, but outwit them and then do the bare minimum of work.

That’s why I don’t want to go for a handicap. Southampton don’t have much to offer offensively, and Arsenal were in the premier class. I’m therefore limiting the goal yield and saying:

The favorite wins, we see a maximum of four goals!
