AS Roma – Sampdoria betting tip, prediction & odds 18/12/2024

Coppa Italia, Wednesday, 18/12/2024 at 9:00 pm

New competition, new luck! While things are not going well for AS Roma in Serie A, they have the chance to build up new self-confidence in the Coppa Italia.

Their opponent? They are also having a very difficult time, even in the division below. So it’s easy to see who the favorite is and who the underdog is. That’s why in my AS Roma Sampdoria tip, I’ll tell you exactly why I’m betting on a home win and limiting it to 4.5 goals!

These are not easy times for anyone who supports the yellow-and-red club from the Italian capital! Roma are mired in a crisis, and it particularly hurts them that things are going MUCH better for city rivals Lazio.

In the Serie A, the team is stuck in the middle of the pack. They rarely win, if there is anything to praise at all, then perhaps that they are doing relatively well in their own stadium – in terms of the fact that they have won four games.

For Roma, it is a huge advantage that the start of the Coppa Italia is at the Olympic Stadium. So, I will start by looking at the history of the competition in recent years.

Five quarter-finals, two last sixteen? It doesn’t read brilliantly! Especially not when you consider that AS only starts in the last sixteen. The last time they made it to the last four was in 2016/17, when they were knocked out by Lazio.

However, you won’t be knocked out with Bwin’s new customer bonus. Click on the graphic to reveal the bonus code and use it when you sign up to get up to €100 for your bets.

So the bottom line is that Roma are definitely not immune to early elimination in the Coppa. How have their home games gone this season, have they at least been comfortable when they have managed to get the three points?

3-0 against Udinese, 4-1 against Lecce, 1-0 against Turin FC and 2-1 against Venezia? Well, two comfortable wins is not quite what their fans expect when they make the journey to the Olympic Stadium.

But the team has also lost to Empoli, Inter Milan, Bologna and Atalanta Bergamo, so it’s still not as if the Olympic Stadium is an absolute fortress.

With Sampdoria Genoa, it is now a duel with a second division team that has also been listed in the top Italian division very regularly in recent years – so there have been a large number of duels against Roma.

The favorite has won the last three clean sheets, and only one of the last ten was lost. Nevertheless, the majority of the victories were quite close, so I can’t say to the Roma fans among you: It’s all good, nothing can go wrong here!

So how do our tax-free bookmakers rate this clash? With Sampdoria not exactly coming from a strong second division, it’s no wonder that the average odds are relatively clear.

The home side are ahead with values of 1.40 to 7.60. In contrast to Roma, Sampdoria have already had two cup rounds and lo and behold: two Serie A clubs have already been knocked out!

So should the decision now actually be made from the spot for the third time? At Betano, there would be the right bet here. If Sampdoria make it to the penalty shootout, the odds reach 8.25!

The last time the club reached the quarter-finals was in 2010/11, which of course does not necessarily speak in favour of success on Wednesday. Of course, I also have to briefly mention the fact that things are not going well for Sampdoria in Serie B.

Sampdoria have not won in seven games, and have not scored in four of those games. They have only won twice away from home in the entire season, so an away game in the cup is certainly not an advantage.

Not easy times for AS Roma! In the league, the top is far away, the team is having an incredibly hard time. It may be an advantage that another national competition is coming up now.

It’s against Sampdoria Genoa, a team that is not performing well at all in Serie B. The guests have not won in weeks, and they are doing anything but well away from home.

On top of that, both teams only managed to win in the cup after a penalty shootout. For the reasons mentioned, I have decided to trust Roma and to bet:

The hosts win with a maximum of four goals!
