Australian Open tips today 20.01. Schedule, predictions & betting

Australian Open today – matches from 20.01.

We are slowly but surely heading for the quarterfinals! Our Australian Open tips today come thick and fast, with the last stars looking to fight their way into the last eight on Monday.

Of course, we are seeing a few names that were absolutely expected to be there, including Jannik Sinner. At the same time, however, this first major tournament of 2025 has also thrown up a few surprises.

For example, we have a qualifier who knocked out Daniil Medvedev and is riding a wave of success. Or an experienced player from France who, in his old age, wants to show everyone once again what he can do.

OR a lucky loser from Germany who should actually have been knocked out already and is now challenging the second best! Eva Lys is someone who, to be honest, I didn’t have that high on my list either.

Australian Open Tips today – 20.01.2025 Preview of Day 10

For Jannik Sinner, of course, getting through this round of 16 in Melbourne is an absolute must. His opponent is not easy, but Holger Rune should still be able to keep the world number 1 at bay on a normal day.

Learner Tien is the biggest surprise of the tournament so far. Having started as a qualifier, not only Daniil Medvedev has already fallen victim to him, now Lorenzo Sonego is also set to fall prey to the American.

Gael Monfils is still not done with top-level tennis by a long shot! On Monday, the Frenchman wants to measure himself against the much younger Ben Shelton and play to his great experience.

Few people expected Alex Michelsen in this round of 16, because he has already sent Stefanos Tsitsipas and Karen Katchanov home. Will he achieve another feat against Alex de Minaur?

If you are following the women’s tournament Down Under, you will not be able to get past the name Eva Lys. The 23-year-old has fought her way into the top 16, but now seems to have an almost unbeatable opponent in Iga Swiatek.

Australian Open today broadcast: Where are the games on 20.01.?

At the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, you don’t have to worry about needing a subscription – Eurosport has sent its experts to Melbourne after all! There you can follow everything almost around the clock, in Austria you get the big package offered by ServusTV.

Australian Open tips today 20.01.: Jannik Sinner – Holger Rune (04:00)

Is it just a matter of clarity? Admittedly, with Jannik Sinner you could always get that idea. The world no. 1 battled his way into the tournament with a 7-6, 7-6, 6-1 win over Nicolas Jarry, followed it up with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Tristan Schoolkate. In both matches, he only allowed one break in total.

He did concede another one against Marcos Giron, but Sinner had no problems in winning the next match 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Holger Rune, on the other hand, was not only involved in five-set matches against Miomir Kecmanovic (6-7, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4) but also in round 1 against Zhang Zhizhen (4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4). Against Matteo Berrettini, it was almost a clear-cut 7-6, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6.

Our expert tip: Over 3.5 sets

Australian Open betting today 20.01.: Lorenzo Sonego – Learner Tien (04:30)

Learner Tien is a name to watch out for! The 19-year-old qualifier from the USA knocked out Camilo Ugo Carabelli (4-6, 7-6, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4) and Daniil Medvedev (6 -3, 7-6, 6-7, 1-6, 7-6) in five sets, then won 7-6, 6-3, 6-3 against Corentin Moutet. Impressively, he won four of the tiebreaks.

Now Tien will play against Lorenzo Sonego, and is only just behind at Interwetten with odds of 2.20 to 1.65. The Italian has also already won a few sets, sending Stan Wawrinka (6-4, 5-7, 7-5, 7-5), Joao Fonseca (6-7, 6-3, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3) and Fabian Marozsan (6-7, 7-6, 61, 6-2) home. With three breaks allowed, he showed himself to be strong on service.

Our expert tip: Over 0.5 Tiebreaks

Australian Open Tips today 20.01.: Gael Monfils – Ben Shelton (05:10)

He can still strike fear into anyone! Gael Monfils caused a real sensation after his victories over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (7-6, 6-3, 6-7, 6-7, 6-4) and Daniel Altmaier (7-5, 6-3, 7-6) and won 3-6, 7-5, 7-6, 6-4 against Taylor Fritz.

He is the slight favorite against Ben Shelton, with odds of 2.25 to 1.65. The American has victories against Brandon Nakashima (7-6, 7-5, 7-5), Pablo Carreno Busta (6-3, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4) and Lorenzo Musetti (6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6) behind him.

Our expert tip: 3:2 Shelton

Australian Open betting tip today 20.01.: Alex Michelsen – Alex de Minaur (10:10 a.m.)

This Australian Open is going swimmingly for Alex Michelsen. The US American first knocked out Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-5, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, then won 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 against James McCabe and 6-3, 7-6, 6-2 against Karen Khachanov. Strong performances by the 20-year-old, who is now the underdog against Alex de Minaur (3.90 to 1.25).

The Australian has a home game and has already beaten Botic van de Zandschulp (6-1, 7-5, 6-4), Tristan Boyer (6-2, 6-4, 6-3) and Francisco Cerundolo (5-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-3). But be warned: the head-to-head against Michelsen is 1-1!

Our expert tip: Michelsen wins the set

Tennis Tips today 20.01.: Eva Lys – Iga Swiatek (09:00 o’clock)

She was already out, wasn’t she? Eva Lys slipped into the main draw as a lucky loser, and in no time at all she had won 6-2, 6-2 against Kimberly Birrell, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 against Varvara Gratchova and 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 against Jacqueline Cristian!

A great success, and now Iga Swiatek is waiting as a reward. According to our tax-free bookmakers, the German has no chance at all (13.0 to 1.02). Swiatek has not yet shown any weakness, winning against Katerina Siniakova (6-3, 6-4), Rebecca Sramkova (6-0, 6-2) and Emma Raducanu (6-1, 6-0), her last two opponents did not get a single break chance.

Our expert tip: 2:0 Swiatek
