Barcelona – PSG betting tip
Only one week after the first legs, the second legs of the Champions League quarter-finals are coming up. PSG travel to Barcelona trailing 3-2 after a home defeat. Can Kylian Mbappe and Co. turn it around?
The Catalans have the chance to play down the lead at home. The odds on who will reach the next round also speak for themselves. Barcelona are clearly ahead with odds of 1.25 to 3.70 for the Parisians. However, I expect a close match, as in the first encounter.
For the second leg, I have the double chance X2 bet from Oddset in my sights. It’s clear to me that it will be extremely close in the end and Barcelona don’t have to win to reach the semi-finals. What else speaks for the X2 odds, I’ll tell you in my Barcelona PSG betting tip
The teams had an offensive exchange of blows last week. Paris came back impressively after the break, turning around the deficit within a few minutes of the restart.
Barcelona responded, first Raphinha struck and then Andreas Christensen scored from a set-piece. 33 goals found their way onto the stat sheet after 90 minutes. The first match definitely whets the appetite for more
The bookmakers’ prediction
Can Barcelona add another home win? For our football betting providers, this is actually the most realistic of all three possible match outcomes, with the hosts starting the match at 2.20.
Sports betting fans will receive a 3.85 for the draw, or will Paris (3.00) successfully take revenge? The fact is that Barcelona will only need a draw to progress. But the Catalans won’t stand back for 90 minutes and hope for a 0:0 draw
Analysis: Barcelona vs. PSG
In the first match, Barcelona found the solution by playing forward. The Catalans were able to break down the French capital’s fragile defense three times. Nevertheless, Barcelona will not go for a win by hook or by crook.
Since the draw is similar to a win, the double chance X2 is highly interesting for me, in addition to the Oddset new customer bonus. I clearly assume that Paris will be the braver team in the moments when they are behind in the overall result.
In any case, the bookmakers are sure that there will be a lot of ringing again. Betano is known for its high over-goal odds, with 1.50.
for over 2.5 goals in the match.
For over 3.5 goals, the stake is more than doubled. Or will it even be five goals like in the first leg? The over 4.5 mark brings a 3.60 on the betting slip. I wouldn’t want to commit myself to one line.
A match is also possible in which Paris will fight tooth and nail for a long time, while Barcelona will not create enough from the transitional moments. Trailing by just one goal, it’s enough for the visitors to open up completely in the closing stages.
Instead of the over 2.5 goals line, I would therefore go for a more eventful second half and recommend the 1.65 odds for at least two goals in the second 45 minutes. The 1.60 for the Paris goal in the second half is also a good bet
Analysis of odds
Since I’m already eager to write about the goal market, the odds for both teams to score should of course not be missing. At a price of 1.42, however, this is not really worthwhile unless the variant with over 2.5 goals is tackled.
Betano also flexes its muscles with a tidy design that has only recently been refreshed. New customers are also welcomed with a 20 euro Betano voucher. You don’t even need to make a deposit to claim this, just verify your account.
The freebet can be used on all sports. As there is no risk of loss, it could be used to get higher odds for the second leg. If you are looking for something suitable for the double-digit range, a Bet Builder variant of half-time/final result X/2 and the Mbappe goal is 10.5!
Not an unlikely outcome in my opinion. If Paris reward themselves with increased pressure in the second half and at least take the game into extra time, the bet would be won if Mbappe scores. The star striker should never be written off in key games
Two yellow cards for Barcelona
Mbappe is the most likely goalscorer of all the players tonight with a 1.95, followed by Barcelona stars Lewandowski (2.30), Vitor Roque (2.50), Ferran Torres (2.62) and Marc Guiu (2.80).
Goncalo Ramos (3.10) and Randal Kolo Muani (3.75) are the other hot favourites for the Parisians. The visitors have a slight advantage in terms of personnel, with only Presnel Kimpembe and reserve keeper Sergio Rico missing.
For Barcelona, two players – Sergi Roberto and Christensen – have picked up yellow cards. The long-term injured Gavi and Alejandro Balde are also still missing
PSG had the weekend off
Will Paris be fresher on Wednesday? Barcelona had to play league football at the weekend, while Mbappe and Co. had time to catch their breath. Xavi gave his key players a few minutes of rest in the 1-0 away win in Cadiz.
Real Madrid are already way ahead in La Liga. The Champions League is their last chance to win a title, while PSG’s next Ligue 1 championship is de facto in the bag. With one game to go, the lead is a whopping ten points.
However, soccer fans cannot look forward to an epic Champions League night at Camp Nou. As is well known, the prestigious stadium is currently being renovated. Barcelona, meanwhile, are playing at the city’s Olympic Stadium.
Although their record of twelve wins from 16 league games is certainly impressive, Xavi has conceded all three defeats with his team at the alternative stadium
In the Champions League, on the other hand, Barcelona have won all four home games so far. The Catalans have already won several games against Paris. The sensational comeback in 2017 is unforgettable, when Barca came back from 4-0 down in the first leg to reach the next round with a 6-1 win.
Barcelona also had the better outcome in the quarter-finals in 2013. In 2015, the same game in April, Neymar scored a brace to eliminate his future employers from the top flight. PSG broke the spell after last advancing in 1995 in the round of 16 in 2021
Three years ago, Paris also managed their first away win, a resounding 1:4, with Mbappe scoring a treble. A few lines ago, I mentioned the 10.5 odds for the X/2 half-time/final score tip in combination with the Frenchman’s goal. Back then, it was exactly the same.
The fact is, it has never been boring in the history of Barcelona and Paris. In nine of the last eleven games, both teams have scored a goal. On average, four balls found their way into the net per game during this period.
My tip:
Barcelona v Paris SG has long been a classic in the European Cup. It’s not just in the Champions League that the top clubs have fought it out. Some still remember the decisive 1:0 goal scored by a certain Ronaldo in the final of the European Cup Winners’ Cup.
The fact that the teams primarily define themselves through attacking soccer is also demonstrated by the average of four goals that we have seen when these teams have met since the turn of the millennium.
In the second leg of the 2024 quarter-final, I expect Paris to be the more pressing, bolder team as long as the overall score shows a deficit for the visitors.
As so often in history, it could end up being very close. Another question will be what Barcelona can create from their transitional moments and how well the defensive players operate. Nuances are likely to make the difference in the end and since the Catalans are not doomed to win, I’m going for double chance X2.
My Gladbach Bayern prediction: Double chance X2!
