Belgium Romania betting tip & the best odds for the 2nd matchday of Group E
The central question in my Belgium Romania betting tip: Can the 1980 European Championship runners-up finally reconcile themselves with Lady Luck this evening and shake off their recent jam?
Luck was definitely not on Belgium’s side a few days ago at the start of the 2024 European Championship, with several chances failing to find the net and two goals from Romelu Lukaku being subsequently conceded by VAR.
In the end, the Red Devils almost sensationally came away empty-handed against Slovakia. As a result, Group E is finally upside down after Romania swept Ukraine off the pitch with a 3-0 win.
Romania are now the Belgians’ upcoming opponents. If they are to reach the round of 16 without any major complications, a clear victory is undoubtedly a must for Domenico Tedesco’s team.
In my Belgium Romania prediction, however, I’m dealing with slightly too low favorite odds, and I feel more comfortable with the “over 1.5 goals” variant anyway. At Bwin you can play the Belgium odds wonderfully
In order to get the aforementioned Belgium Romania odds through, I’m betting primarily on Romelu Lukaku, who seemed to have bad luck on his hands in the last few tournament games.
After he was largely to blame for the clean sheet against Croatia at the 2022 World Cup, his drama continued at the European Championship in Germany.
First of all, top striker Lukaku struggled to finish the chances he had created, then he was marginally offside after a corner kick, and for the second disallowed goal, Louis Openda touched the ball lightly with his hand before laying it off for the number ten.
The 1:0 for Slovakia by Ivan Schranz in the seventh minute remained the only goal of the game and put the underdogs in a great position to reach the round of 16.
Belgium – Romania prediction by the bookmakers
In the second group match, Belgium is again clearly ahead in the Belgium Romania odds. Depending on the bookmaker, odds of just under 1.50 are available for the success of the 1980 European runners-up, with Romania being assigned 7.00.
More realistic, but also very unlikely, is a draw at 4.50. In my opinion, there is no value to be found here. If there were, then I would include the Belgium odds in a combination ticket.
If you are still interested in a (partial) success for the underdog, the double chance might be of particular interest.
After all, the European Championship bookmakers will reward it with odds of up to 2.7 if the Romanians, who started so strongly, do not lose their second group game either
Belgium – Romania odds: Where are the highest Belgium odds?
If you really want to play the Belgium win odds, you should take a look at Betano. Super Boost odds are available for every European Championship match in the match outcome betting market. Belgium has an even 1.50, Romania an increased 7.30.
However, I have my eye on the Belgium bet that the offense will be rewarded for its efforts at least in the second group game and score at least two goals. Bwin has a 1.55 for this.
The big advantage over the win bet is that in the end it doesn’t matter what Romania does in front of the opponent’s box as long as Lukaku and Co. score themselves.
A possible 2:2 or 3:3 would be secured, but a 1:0 would not, which Belgium will certainly not let happen in such an important game
Analysis: Belgium vs. Romania
In addition, the Romanian goal is not unlikely either, so Belgium are doomed to score more goals. They showed against Ukraine that they can combine well and are also good for Sunday shots.
There is also an interesting statistic for the Belgium Romania betting tip:
Romania have lost just one of their last 16 international matches. Only Colombia managed a 3-2 win against the team of Edward Iordanescu, who has been in charge of the national team since January 2022
Romania finished first in qualifying, ahead of Switzerland and Israel, with six wins and four draws from ten games. The Eastern Europeans only conceded five goals. The 3-0 win against Ukraine at the start of the European Championship was also the third international match in a row without conceding a goal.
Figures that have pushed the “Belgium over 1.5 goals” rate upwards, but don’t put me off. Because the truth is that a soccer caliber like Belgium has not been there in recent years
And the 0:1 against Slovakia in no way reflects the current performance of the Red Devils, who dominated the game.
Although we are no longer talking about the golden generation due to the advanced age of many stars, the quality is still massive.
Especially as some young players are also coming through, such as Lois Openda, Jeremy Doku and Johan Bakayoko, just to name a few.
Belgium only now have the perfect mix of experienced, strong players and new, young mega-stars in their team, which also gives confidence for the Belgium Romania prediction.
Analysis of odds
Let’s take a look at the general goal market. For over 2.5 goals, we get 1.74 odds with the bookmaker Winamax, one shelf above that already 2.80. The over 1.5-goal variant is at 1.24.
I find the 1.94 for a goal from both teams the most attractive. An odds that is also referred to as “HOT” at Winamax, as users have opted for this odds much more frequently than the others.
But the best thing is: at Winamax you get a 200 euro free bet almost for free. Your first deposit will be doubled as part of the European Championship in the form of freebet credit, which you can use freely. The net winnings can then be paid out.
You then only have to wager your real money deposit amount at 1.05 odds to be able to withdraw it. Definitely one of the best bonus offers for Euro 2024. What’s more, the French bookmaker’s odds are tax-free
Belgium vs. Romania odds: A clear Belgium affair this time?
Belgium and Romania have never met at a European Championship before. The only games of note were the qualifiers for the 1994 World Cup, when Belgium won the home game 1-0 and Romania got their revenge in the reunion (2-1).
Apart from that, Belgium and Romania have only ever played test matches, the most recent in 2011 and 2012, which were also two host nation victories, with Belgium winning 2:1 and Romania winning the last clash.
And for this year’s clash? In the meantime, Belgium have set themselves apart in footballing terms and have topped the FIFA world rankings for years, albeit not in a meaningful way.
Super goalscoring ratios for Lukaku and Co.
If the game had gone just slightly differently, Lukaku could have scored a hat-trick for Belgium. He is the target man in national team coach Domenico Tedesco’s system and, despite his massive body, still has a good run and strong assertiveness.
The 1.86 for a goal from the AS Roma striker is too high for me personally. Openda’s 2.00 is also strong, if the Leipzig player is allowed to play from the start this time.
Behind them are Leandro Trossard and Kevin De Bruyne with odds beyond 3.00. A Romania goal is anything but a sure thing with the bookmakers, so scorer odds of 5.30 and higher await Daniel Birligea and his boys
It will be interesting to see whether Tedesco tweaks his squad. More minutes are likely for Openda, who was able to make a big impact on the left flank after coming on as a substitute.
Either way, the head coach is spoiled for choice. He can rely on his defense. Belgium have conceded just three goals in their last seven international matches. The 1-0 defeat to Slovakia was their first loss since the 2022 World Cup group game against Morocco (2-0).
Like Romania, Belgium also made it through qualifying without defeat, winning six of their eight games and topping their group. Right before the European Championship, Belgium prepared against Montenegro and Luxembourg.
Former Schalke coach Tedesco’s team made a solid impression, starting with a 2:0 win and then recording a 3:0 success against Luxembourg
My Belgium Romania tip:
Belgium will be up against it against Romania, but the current group leaders are full of confidence and can look back on 15 unbeaten games from their last 16 international matches. However, they have not faced a really big opponent in that time.
Lukaku alone could have scored three to five goals against Slovakia. In the second group game, I also expect Belgium to play bravely going forward and to be rewarded for their efforts this time. Tedesco can also add dangerously from the bench.
But beware of the Romanians’ transitional play, so I’m not going for the Belgian win odds, which are too low for me anyway, but instead I’m placing the following bet.
My Belgium Romania tip: Over 1.5 Belgium goals
