Sven Bender can “in principle” imagine remaining as head coach at SpVgg Unterhaching in the Regionalliga “if the conditions are right”. The 35-year-old said this at the press conference ahead of the most recent third division game at Viktoria Cologne. The 2011 and 2012 German champions have been the interim coach of the bottom-placed team in the 3rd division since December 1, 2024. Since he does not currently have the necessary Pro coaching license, he is only allowed to train the team on his own until April 8, when another coach is to be appointed to assist him. According to Bender, Haching has little realistic chance of avoiding relegation, so the aim is “not to write off the season”.
