After the World Championships, the cross-country skiing stars are now entering the final stretch of the season. This week, the Nove Mesto Biathlon World Cup 2025 is scheduled. Six competitions will take place – three for the women and three for the men.

Nove Mesto Biathlon World Cup 2025: program, dates, races
The Nove Mesto Biathlon World Cup 2025 will feature a total of six competitions from Thursday to Sunday – three for women and three for men.
The program in Nove Mesto begins on Thursday (March 6) with the men’s 10 km sprint race, which starts at 6:20 p.m. One day later, on Friday (March 7), the women’s 7.5 km sprint race will take place at the same time.
On Saturday (March 8), the Nove Mesto 2025 schedule includes the men’s 12.5 km pursuit at 2:55 p.m. The women’s 10 km pursuit will follow at 5:40 p.m.
The weekend at the Nove Mesto 2025 World Cup will be rounded off by the two competitions on Sunday (March 9). At 1:50 p.m., the men will go into the 4 x 7.5 km relay race. Finally, at 4:45 p.m., the women’s 4 x 6 km relay competition will take place.
Nove Mesto Biathlon World Cup 2025: Broadcast on TV & Stream
The winter sports live TV program also includes biathlon throughout the winter, of course. All races are broadcast live on free TV – on ARD and ZDF on the one hand and on Eurosport on the other.
The broadcast of the Nove Mesto World Cup 2025 will be shown live on ARD from Thursday to Sunday. Das Erste will broadcast all six biathlon races of the Nove Mesto World Cup live.
The competitions will be available both on free TV and as a livestream via the ARD media library.
In addition to the broadcast on public television, the Nove Mesto Biathlon 2025 will also be broadcast live on all four days at Eurosport. The sports channel is included in the DAZN subscription and can therefore also be seen live there.
The favorites for the men’s race
Who are the favorites for the Nove Mesto Biathlon World Cup 2025?
If you take the last results and especially the World Championships as a yardstick, then superstar Johannes Thingnes Boe is the top favorite. At the World Championships, the current second-place finisher in the overall World Cup took gold in the pursuit and sprint, and also secured bronze in the mass start.
His biggest opponent is the overall World Cup leader Sturla Holm Laegreid, for whom the World Championships were a bit of a disappointment with only a silver medal (mass start). On the other hand, Endre Strömsheim (gold in the mass start) is another Norwegian who has recently impressed.
The other favorites are the French Eric Perrot (gold in the individual) and his compatriot Emilien Jaquelin, who are ranked third and four in the overall World Cup.
A strong performance in Nove Mesto can also be expected from the third-best Frenchman Quentin Fillon Maillet (bronze in sprint & individual) and the American Campbell Wright (silver in sprint & pursuit).
Who can win in the women’s race?
On the women’s side, Franziska Preuß is arguably the one to beat.
The World Cup leader also presented herself in top form at the World Championships, taking gold in the pursuit and silver in the sprint.
If Preuß can maintain her good form in Nove Mesto, she is one of the top favorites for all upcoming competitions this week.
Her two biggest rivals are Lou Jeanmonnot (second in the overall World Cup) and Elvira Oeberg (third in the overall World Cup). The Swede, in particular, is to be reckoned with after winning gold in the mass start and silver in the pursuit.
The two Frenchwomen Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (sprint gold & bronze in the pursuit) and Julia Simon (gold in the individual) complete the group of favorites.
