BVB summer schedule 2025: When does it continue after the Club World Cup?
After being knocked out in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Club World Cup, Borussia Dortmund immediately returned home. The professionals will be given two to three weeks’ holiday.
Borussia Dortmund will therefore start training in the third or fourth week of July. An exact date has not yet been announced in the BVB summer schedule for 2025.
Dortmund’s friendly matches in the 2025 summer preparation
When the Dortmund players return from their holidays, the first date on the BVB summer schedule for 2025 is already set. On August 4, they will head to a short training camp in Saalfelden, Austria. Training will continue there until August 9.
However, it is still unclear whether BVB has any friendly matches planned. There is currently no information about one or more preparatory matches.
On the other hand, the Club World Cup was a kind of “preparation tournament” anyway, so a few intensive training sessions are likely to be more important for coach Niko Kovac for the time being.

After returning from training camp, August 10 is an important date on BVB’s summer schedule.
That’s the day the season kicks off, and as usual, there will be a BVB test match against a prominent opponent. This year, Dortmund will play Juventus Turin (August 10, 5:30 p.m.

When is the first competitive game scheduled in BVB’s 2025 summer schedule?
The first competitive game of the new season will take place in mid-August. The first round of the DFB Cup will be played on the weekend of August 15-18, 2025. Borussia will face RW Essen away on Monday, August 18 (8:45 p.m.).
A week later (August 22–24), the Bundesliga season will kick off. The Black and Yellows will start away at St. Pauli.
