BVB summer schedule 2024: Training starts on July 10
The disappointment after losing the Champions League final should already be digested, because the first date on BVB’s 2024 summer schedule is coming up quite early.
Borussia Dortmund will start training on July 10.
First on the agenda is the obligatory performance diagnostics, during which all of the BVB professionals’ fitness and health values are recorded and analyzed. Then it’s onto the pitch, where new head coach Nuri Sahin will lead the first session.
Sahin will have to do without numerous players, as they were still at the European Championships. Such as Niclas Füllkrug, Emre Can, Nico Schlotterbeck and Marcel Sabitzer.
Two days after the start of training, the next date on the Borussia Dortmund 2024 summer schedule follows.
On 12 July, the so-called “dream match” between BVB and a DEW21 selection in Holzwickede is on the program. It is also the first of BVB’s six test matches this summer.
The next test match will follow five days later – Borussia Dortmund will host Erzgebirge Aue on August 17
The BVB Asia trip to Thailand and Japan in 2024
The next date on BVB’s 2024 summer schedule is the trip abroad. Last year, Borussia Dortmund traveled to the USA, this time in the other direction.
From July 19 to 25, BVB will be touring Asia. The first stop is Thailand, followed by Japan.
On July 21 at 8 p.m. local time (3 p.m. CEST), BVB will face BG Pathum United at the BG Stadium in Bangkok.
The black-and-yellow squad will then travel on to Japan. The second of BVB’s two test matches on this year’s trip to Asia will take place in Osaka. Dortmund will play Cerezo Osaka (19:15 local time/12:15 CEST), the current club of former Dortmund player Shinji Kagawa, as part of the “EuroJApanCup”.
It remains to be seen whether there will be another test match in Japan
More Borussia Dortmund test matches in 2024
After returning from the tour of Asia, BVB will head to training camp. This year, the camp will once again take place in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland, from August 1 to 9.
One of BVB’s 2024 test match dates falls during this training camp. On August 6 (18:30), Dortmund will play a test match against Villarreal. The match will be played in Altach (Austria).
After that, the last of BVB’s six test matches in 2024 is on the summer schedule.
On August 10, Aston Villa will visit Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park for the black-and-yellow season opener. This test match (kick-off 17:00) is also the dress rehearsal for the new season
Borussia Dortmund dates: When are the first competitive matches scheduled?
Borussia Dortmund’s 2024 summer schedule already includes the first competitive matches in addition to the tour of Asia with the two test matches in the Far East and the two preparation matches against Villarreal and Aston Villa.
The first competitive match on this year’s Borussia Dortmund summer schedule will take place on August 17. On that day, Borussia Dortmund will play its first round match in the DFB Cup at Phönix Lübeck.
The Bundesliga opener will take place one week later. BVB will kick off the new season on August 24 at home against Eintracht Frankfurt.
