Chelsea – Wolverhampton betting tip, prediction & odds 20/01/2025

Premier League, Monday, 01/20/2025 at 9:00 p.m.

Something must have happened, but you just don’t want to find out what exactly it was! Chelsea FC were on the verge of being able to play a role in our Premier League master bets, but that is no longer an issue.

The Blues have crashed after weeks without a win and will face the league’s worst defense on Monday. The role of favorite? That clearly goes to the Londoners. But since the win bet is too tricky for me, I’ll tell you now in my Chelsea Wolverhampton tip why I’m betting on goals from both teams here.

Oh, how wonderful it was, that phase when many experts were actually wondering whether Chelsea could be one of the title contenders! There had been five wins in the Advent season, and the team was in a bit of a frenzy.

When they only managed a 0-0 draw against Everton shortly before Christmas Eve, it marked the start of a run that no one likes. 1-2 against Fulham, 0-2 against Ipswich, 1-1 against Crystal Palace and 2-2 against Bournemouth, they haven’t won in five games!

And that, although the Blues went into half-time with a 1-0 lead in three of the last four games! Since only two clean sheets have been obtained since the fifth matchday, we don’t know Chelsea as a team that is strong defensively anyway.

So how does the club intend to overcome this crisis? If you think a home game could help, you’d be wrong. The Londoners have only won 40 percent of all home games, and they only kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa.

It’s not boring at Stamford Bridge. Most recently, against Bournemouth, they equalized in injury time, and before that, in the 1-2 defeat to Fulham, the opponents celebrated the three points at the final whistle.

In the last seven home games, there have been a total of 20 goals, seven of which were scored before half-time and 13 after. On a positive note, Chelsea were only behind at half-time on the first matchday, when they lost 2-0 to Manchester City.

Since they have already led six times, in the last three games 1-0, there are two bets to be made here. You can bet on the Blues leading on Monday as well and then disappearing into the dressing rooms for 15 minutes.

The odds for this bet are 1.72. If you want to go for something even bigger, then of course the 1-0 outright bet is also possible. With odds of 3.65, Interwetten is the safe option here, especially since the Interwetten Freebet is available.

In the first leg, of course, neither side has forgotten that Chelsea had pulled away with 6:2. Before that, Wolves had won three times in a row, but with two wins in their last nine games, the blue balance sheet doesn’t look too good.

Our betting providers, who do not charge tax, are not impressed by the direct comparison or the current crisis facing the Londoners, as they are sending the home side into the race as favorites with odds of 1.33 to 7.90.

This is likely to be largely due to the fact that Wolverhampton Wanderers are bottom of the league and, with 48 goals conceded, are the team that has done least well defensively.

Around New Year, the yellow and blacks had stabilized a little, winning against Leicester (3-0) and Manchester United (2-0) and drawing 2-2 with Tottenham. But as soon as 2025 rolled around, the positive momentum was gone.

0-3 against Nottingham and 0-0 against Newcastle, now not even their own attack is scoring! Before that, Wolves had only failed to score in a game twice in 19 rounds, but now they have done so in two matches in a row.

Whether playing at home or away, this team really doesn’t care. When they lose away from home, it’s always with at least two goals conceded; at Brentford there were once as many as five.

How long will it take for Chelsea FC to stabilize again? To be honest, I don’t really understand how the Blues were able to slide into the current crisis at all; not much is going on at home either.

They have only kept one clean sheet at home this season, which of course harmonizes perfectly with the next opponent. Wolves have the worst defense of any club, having conceded 48 goals.

In this respect, I expect to see two teams on Monday who could both be a bit more confident. And what better tip could there be than this one:

Both teams to score!
