Club Nacional – River Plate Betting Tip, Forecast & Odds 08.05.2024

Copa Libertadores 2024, Wednesday, 08.05.2024

While the UEFA Champions League is already entering the final phase these weeks, South America is still a long way off. In the Copa Libertadores, we are right in the middle of the group stage.

In Group H, we face a blue and white duel on Wednesday night in which the visitors are favored. Rightly so? In my Club Nacional River Plate betting tip, I disagree a little here and reveal why I have my eye on home strength and am therefore backing double chance 1

Out twice in a row in the round of 16? No, that doesn’t suit River Plate’s ambitions at all! The Argentinian top club would like to get back to the top of the Copa Libertadores, and they are definitely one of the favorites in 2024.

Without qualifying, the team started the group stage at the beginning of April, in which three match days have passed so far. All three matches were won, with River Plate being very efficient on the road

2:0 against Tachira, 2:0 against Nacional and 2:1 against Libertad, after the “half-time” everything looks as if the club will advance to the next round in first place.

The defense has made a strong impression in all three games, but there is still potential in attack if we take a closer look at the results. Four of the six goals were scored in the last 15 minutes!

In this respect, I’m almost tempted to bet that the second half on Wednesday will be the one in which more goals are scored. In the Betway app you can get odds of 2.10 for this.

The current season has been running in Argentina since January. How do things look in the table, is Plate playing for the championship? Only one defeat has been conceded, but seven wins in 14 rounds also show that there is no really strong series

It is interesting that three of the last four games have not been won away from home. Playing three times to nil, but then conceding four times? River Plate are still not quite sure which style to follow.

In the first leg against Club Nacional, the Argentinians won unceremoniously 2-0, their fifth win in seven matches. Can we already talk about a favorite opponent here? That would probably be a little premature

Only three games have been played since 2009. They won 2-0 and 6-0 in the quarter-finals of the 2020 Copa, so now could be their fourth three in a row.

I already mentioned at the start of my analysis that River Plate are definitely the favorites on Wednesday. The odds come to an average of 2.00 to 3.60, so for an away game they are relatively clearly in the lead

The 49-time Uruguayan champions Club Nacional are based in Montevideo and have already celebrated major successes in the Copa Libertadores in their history. Between the 1970s and 1980s, they won the title three times and also won the World Cup three times. Since then, not so much has worked out internationally.

Twice in the group stage, once eliminated in the round of 16, the last three seasons ended relatively unsuccessfully. This season, the club had to fight their way through four qualifying matches before they were allowed to enter the group stage.

They won twice against Puerto Cabello 2:0, then Nacional were relatively lucky to beat Club Always Ready 0:1 and 7:5 on penalties.

Once in the regular competition, the Uruguayan side celebrated a 2-0 win over Libertad before the aforementioned 2-0 defeat at River Plate. However, the 2:1 win against Tachira means that they remain in a positive position to progress for the time being.

Things are going really well for Nacional in the domestic league anyway, they are unbeaten after eleven rounds and have recently won five matches in a row. With five wins and a draw, the team can’t be faulted at home

River Plate may have a better individual line-up than Club Nacional, in this respect I agree with the odds that can be found in our sports betting apps. At the same time, however, I also warn against underestimating Club Nacional.

The team from Uruguay is very strong at home. What’s more, River Plate’s three victories have been relatively close and with some late goals – it didn’t seem overpowering.

I have therefore decided to give the home side a little more credit than the bookmakers do. My tip is therefore logical:

Club Nacional will score against River Plate
