NFL 2024/25: Commanders – Giants
Who thinks: Well, what does he want with this game? He could have gotten me excited about the new Winamax bonus, but with Commanders against Giants, seriously?
You wouldn’t be wrong! Because the NFL schedule really does have more exciting games in store for you. Nevertheless, with a well-dosed Commanders Giants tip and a bit of luck, you can pocket a penny or two
Both teams, the Washington Commanders and the New York Giants, have had a disappointing and bumpy start to the new NFL season.
But the beauty of a weak start in Week 1 is that you have the opportunity to quickly make up for it with a strong performance in Week 2.
The Commanders, in particular, have a lot to make up for after suffering a resounding 20-37 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
One bright spot for Washington, however, was the running strength of their rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels was able to put the Buccaneers defense in a bind time and time again by impressing on the ground.
Still, his passing accuracy left a lot to be desired, and although he completed 70.8% of his passes, his overall attempts were rather conservative (typical rookie).
Too many short passes meant that Daniels was only able to complete ten successful plays to receivers and tight ends that resulted in more than a handful of yards by the end of the day.
The Commanders’ defense didn’t help much either, barely able to put up any resistance against Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers’ offense.
The New York Giants didn’t fare any better. They suffered a bitter defeat against Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings with a 22-point difference!
The weak offense was particularly disappointing, despite the promising debut of Malik Nabers.
The rookie receiver showed potential, but quarterback Daniel Jones needs to integrate his star receiver better in order to drive the Giants’ offense forward and put the opponent under constant pressure.
Week 2 now offers the opportunity to correct the poor performances and get back on track. However, I don’t think it will be that easy to suddenly eradicate the many inconsistencies from one weekend to the next!
There are also a few personnel question marks that you should definitely keep in mind for your Commanders Giants tip on Sunday.
For example, the Commanders are without Jer’Zhan Newton and Emmanuel Forbes Jr. – both important pillars of the defense. If they are out, this could be a problem for the already fragile defense.
The Giants also have their worries: Nick McCloud and Darius Slayton are questionable. Meanwhile, the already confirmed absence of receiver Gunner Olszewski is particularly bitter, which should further reduce the NYG’s ability to score points.
When we look at the last meetings between the Commanders and the Giants, it looks more like a low-scoring game. Four of the last five duels have remained below the 41-point mark, which speaks strongly in favor of my bet “Under 40.5”.
The odds for this are 1.85 and could be a solid and low-risk option if you don’t expect too many points either.
For those who still want to try a player bet: Austin Ekeler is always good for a touchdown – especially when his team is favored at home.
This is because he has scored at least one touchdown in seven of his last eight games in which this requirement has been met. With odds of 2.22, a TD bet on the running back is a statistically well-founded Commanders Giants tip
And if you want to bet on a halftime tip so that you don’t have to be on tenterhooks until the very end, I recommend taking a look at the Giants’ poor away form.
In their last nine September away games against NFC teams, they have always lost the first half.
A bet on the Commanders as half-time leaders is therefore also an exciting alternative, at odds of currently around 1.81.
Conclusion: I expect a low-scoring game with few touchdowns and several fumbles or interceptions.
In my Commanders Giants prediction, there is simply a lot to suggest that WAS will stabilize defensively and the Giants will continue to have their difficulties marching forward.
The home side haven’t won against New York since January 2022, but with Jayden Daniels looking more assured in his first home game and the Giants’ poor form, a win for Washington seems at least within reach.
Primarily, however, I expect a tough game and less than 40.5 points.
My tip: Under 40.5 points
