The last few weeks of the year are going to be quite something! In our Champions League tips, FCB from Munich need to finally overcome their away weakness. Although… in my Shakhtar Donetsk v Bayern Munich tip, both teams are actually playing “away”!
When the starting whistle blows in the Veltins-Arena on Schalke, most people expect an offensive fireworks display from Bayern. I can understand this train of thought, because I would also be ready for a game that has at least three goals in store for the favorites.
In the premier class, it is not a given that the Reds will rush from one victory to the next, especially away from the Isar there is room for improvement. But of course everyone also knows that when the German record champions kick on, anything is possible in attack.
The fact that the Shakhtar Donetsk Bayern odds are taking a clear direction does not surprise me given the individual qualities. The values are rated at an average of 16.0 to 1.15 at our Apple Pay bookmakers – it couldn’t be clearer.

Not surprisingly, the situation is quite different for FC Bayern, of course. The Munich team already have some pressure on their side in the premier league, but odds of 1.15 nevertheless show that nothing less than a clear victory is expected.
It is therefore only logical that the odds for a draw are very high at 7.80. But: one of only two direct duels ended in a draw, so one point would of course be a great success for Shakhtar.

The medium risk provides for a goal from Leroy Sané – he wouldn’t be my first port of call for goals! Since half of the Bayern team is listed with odds under 3.00, it’s clear that anyone can score, so the Sané bet doesn’t seem that risky!
The medium-risk tip is that Munich will win the match with a clean sheet. Since there were two consecutive 1-0 wins and Donetsk are anything but dangerous in front of goal, this bet gets my approval.

The triple chance is already gone with the elimination in the DFB Cup, so it is all the more important for FC Bayern not to make a poor showing in the Champions League – and everything is not going smoothly in the premier league!
The 2020 title holders have shown a wide range of performances in the current competition. They got off to an extremely offensive start with a 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb, but were then followed by defeats against Aston Villa (0-1) and Barca (1-4).

Since Bayern are the clear favorites and are also very close to my heart, a handicap bet is a natural choice. At Bet365, for example, I can recommend a 0-2 win for the home team.

Schachtjor Donezk vs. Bayer: Does the venue decide?
They have not won in five away games in the Champions League, and they have even lost four times. The last time they were so weak on the road was in 2010, when the streak even grew to ten games.
At least the trip on Tuesday is a short one, as the game is being played in Gelsenkirchen. The Bundesliga leaders, who won 4-2 against Heidenheim at the weekend, have yet to lose a game in this competition.
However, Bayern are missing a few key players. Manuel Neuer is currently suffering from a rib contusion, and it is still unclear whether he will be able to play on Tuesday. Mathys Tel has reported sick, and Serge Gnabry is trying to get his knee problems under control.
Donezk hopes for the “home advantage”
For Harry Kane, the game comes too early, so someone else has to score the goals. In 2015, in the last sixteen of the Champions League at the time, the two teams met before – and with completely different results.
A 0-0 first-leg draw was followed by a 7-0 win, with a certain Thomas Müller scoring twice. The fans would love to see a result like that again in this year’s tie, but it would be more on a par with the 9-2 win against Zagreb.
Shakhtar Donetsk, last seen in the knockout phase of the top international competition in 2018, are well aware of the caliber of their opponents in Bayern Munich.
The CL season so far has been very mediocre. 0-0 against Bologna, 0-3 against Atalanta, 0-1 against Arsenal, 2-1 against Young Boys Bern and 2-3 against Eindhoven, the results were very mixed.
At first, the team hardly managed anything in offense, then they scored two goals twice. The defeat against PSV was incredibly bitter, because Shakhtar led 2-0 until the 87th minute!
The game got completely out of control in the final phase, and in the end Donetsk was left empty-handed. All four goals were scored in the first half, so they’re not going to make it through.
Although Shakhtar isn’t really allowed to play “at home” since the situation in Ukraine became so precarious, there is a certain home advantage. This means that three of the last four “home” games have been won.
2:1 against Young Boys, 1:0 against Royal Antwerp and against Barcelona, the successes have all been close. No question about it: a narrow victory against Bayern would do this series good!

Offensively, nobody is really doing Bayern any favors, but since they have only scored three times in their last four games, they naturally want to raise this average again. This is exactly the basis of my betting recommendation.
