Only a 1-1 draw at home against Lille, not an ideal starting position for BVB in the Champions League round of 16 and they continue directly next Wednesday. In between, they face the best defense in Europe in 2025.
My Dortmund Augsburg betting tip is not an easy one, as Borussia have to prepare for the match in France at the same time.

Tenth place and ten games to go. Qualifying for the Champions League again, the Black & Yellows’ minimum target before the season, is still within their grasp. However, they will need a really strong final phase to achieve this.
And then there is currently the double burden of the current season in the top flight. A real treat for the visitors from Bavaria on Saturday afternoon? I think they can at least score the away goal!
The oddsmakers’ forecast
The oddsmakers are quite cautious. Dortmund’s home strength is well known, at least in this category Niko Kovac’s team is in the top 4, which is why there is a fairly clear favorite odds of 1.55 against Augsburg (5.90).
Or will we see another draw? After all, Augsburg have drawn four of their last five league games, three of them 0:0, which doesn’t initially point to either team scoring. But I expect a different outcome at Signal Iduna Park. So does the AI?
AI prediction Dortmund vs. Augsburg: ChatGPT
The goal of both teams has also been picked out independently of me. Given the high odds, I’m not surprised. ChatGPT gives the bet the “medium risk” seal. Dortmund have scored in all of their competitive matches at home, with the exception of the meaningless second leg against Sporting (0:0).
In the lower odds region, the AI finds Dortmund’s easy home win the best. The bet is too hot for me given FCA’s eight unbeaten matches and Dortmund will have to conserve their strength ahead of the trip to Lille.
The high risk bet makes me smile more. Here ChatGPT has selected the draw, we are in the 4.30 range.
Not only because of the recent Augsburg results, I can very well imagine another draw, I think it’s realistic that Dortmund will bite their teeth out on the defensive bulwark and we will see a controversial 1:1 or 2:2.
Ultimately, however, the 1X2 market is too risky for me, especially in games involving Dortmund, who can sweep Sporting off the pitch in Lisbon on the one hand, only to lose to the bottom team in Bochum on the other.
Analysis: Dortmund vs. Augsburg
These miracle results of the hosts take me away from the 1X2 market. On a positive note, BVB have won their last two league games by nil and in commanding fashion, 6-0 against Union and a 2-0 win at St. Pauli. The only goal conceded in the last four matches was against Lille.
Overall, Dortmund conceded very little. Nevertheless, I think the goal conceded on Saturday is very likely. I’m expecting a brave FCA, who will want to capitalize on the schedule between the first leg of the round of 16 and the second leg.
In addition, the club’s strong start to the year means they are now also aiming for the top.
With a 15-point lead over the relegation places, the team can play freely and have the fresher legs on Saturday afternoon and despite the improved performance, Dortmund still lack the final consistency over 90 minutes.
What’s more, the hosts have only won one of their last six matches at home. The only time they kept a clean sheet was in the thumping win against the Ironmen.
Rating Analysis
The 31 goals scored at home are more impressive, that’s almost three on average and only table leader Munich trumps them. If you add over 2.5 goals to the goal of both teams at Betano, you can increase the odds to 2.18.
A nice jump, but too small for me and I prefer to cover a 1:1 draw between the serial champions. Betano is known for its tasty goal odds, which you can even bet on initially without risk.

Dortmund vs. Augsburg: Is a goalscorer bet a good idea?
Dortmund is also high up in the other offensive statistics. With 324 opportunities, Borussia had the fourth most of all league teams, but in terms of shots on goal allowed, they are only mediocre.
We are talking about more than twice as many as Bayern. Due to the good attacking figures, I took a look around the goalscorer market. Serhou Guirassy has a lucrative 1.98, Karim Adeyemi a 3.20.

Augsburg have only won once in Dortmund
Augsburg have good odds, but I think it’s difficult to predict who will score the first or second goal. Especially as there hasn’t been a figurehead up front in recent weeks. The last time a player scored in two consecutive matches was Philipp Tietz in November.
On the whole, however, Augsburg are very fond of scoring against the big BVB, as was the case in the home win in the first leg (2:1). That was the seventh of the last eight encounters in which both teams have scored. From an Augsburg fan’s point of view, however, booking away tickets is something to consider
The southern Germans have lost six times in a row at Signal Iduna Park. Overall, the home record is clear. 13 games, nine wins for BVB, three draws and only one Augsburg success in 2015.
Incidentally, that was the last time we didn’t see one goal per team when BVB were at home.
My Dortmund Augsburg tip:
The goal scored by both teams against Augsburg at Signal Iduna Park would celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2025. Both teams have scored nine times in a row in this clash, and it’s generally a real battle when these teams meet.
Which doesn’t surprise me, Dortmund play boldly going forward, have their lapses at the back from time to time and FCA are dangerous when switching. The visitors’ recent games have been low-scoring, with the defense in particular impressing.
However, that is likely to change in Dortmund despite the upcoming second leg of the Champions League. The task of minimizing the gap at the top is too important and the Guirassy-Adeyemi-Gittens attack is too dangerous.
But FCA have the fresher legs and, with eight unbeaten games in a row, a broad chest and can play freely given their current position in the table!
