BVB – Leverkusen betting tip
During the week, Dortmund and Leverkusen celebrated great successes in the European Cup. Borussia advanced to the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2013 with a strong 4:2 home win against Atletico Madrid.
And in the Europa League, a 1:1 draw at West Ham United was enough for Bayer to reach the last four. The two teams will now meet in the top match of matchday 30 at Signal Iduna Park on Sunday.
Who will be best placed to take the momentum from international business into the Bundesliga? For the Werkself, of course, there is not so much at stake after winning their first German championship
However, coach Xabi Alonso’s squad could still break FC Bayern’s record from the 2012/13 season (91 points) and, of course, become the first Bundesliga team ever to go a full season unbeaten.
Dortmund, on the other hand, are under much greater pressure. The Bundesliga side’s chances of finishing fifth in the Champions League are currently very good. But only a top-four finish will guarantee BVB a ticket to the upcoming top flight.
The Black & Yellows would also love to end Bayer’s unbeaten run. For my Dortmund Leverkusen betting tip at odds of 1.65 with provider Interwetten, I opt for the bet “Double chance 1/x & Over 1.5 goals.”
The BVB Leverkusen prediction from the betting providers?
In the Dortmund vs Leverkusen prediction, the best bookmakers can’t agree on a favorite. This has to do with the fact that Bayer could actually tick off the BL season and concentrate on the two other competitions.
There are odds of just over 2.50 for both a home and an away win. If you can’t decide on a 1×2 tip for this match, but still want to place a bet, I recommend a free bet
Analysis: Dortmund vs Leverkusen
On Tuesday, BVB wanted to turn around the 2-1 first-leg defeat against Atletico Madrid in front of their own fans. In the end, the Borussians celebrated a deserved 4:2 victory, driven on by their euphoric fans.
Coach Edin Terzic’s team not only played good soccer, but also brought more structure, passion and fight to the pitch than their Spanish opponents.
At times, the game was on a knife-edge. Dortmund also conceded four goals in the two games against the Colchoneros. However, the quick 3:2 in response to the equalizer was the decisive factor in the end.
A lot is still possible this year. And that in a season in which the coach has been on the brink of retirement on one occasion or another and the club has never been able to live up to its status as “Bayern’s number one hunter.”
On the one hand, the Black & Yellows are only in fifth place in the Bundesliga and must fear for their participation in the upcoming Champions League season. On the other hand, they are only a few wins away from winning the Henkelpot.
BVB have won five of their last six BL matches (1N). That is the same number of wins as in the 15 league games before. This puts Dortmund in 3rd place in the table for the second half of the season.
They only finished the first half of the season in 5th place. Borussia suffered four out of five BL defeats at home this season. Only once more in the past 15 seasons (2014/15).
The team has been waiting for a win against the league leaders since October 2019, or eight Bundesliga matches. Bensebaini, Adeyemi and Haller will be missing against Bayer
Odds analysis
Spectators can look forward not only to a top match on Sunday, but also to plenty of goals from the bookies’ point of view. For example, the bet “Over 2.5 goals” has maximum odds of just 1.50.
The “Both teams to score” bet even only averages 1.45. The “First goal” betting market looks better. If the home side take the lead, Betway will give them 1.91.
And Bayer have also fallen behind in each of their last three meetings with BVB. Before placing a bet with the provider, you should first secure the Betway betting bonus.
According to the statistics, Black & Yellow have always gone into the break with a lead against the Werkself in 7 of the last 8 home games. If this streak continues, Crazybuzzer has odds of 2.95.
How many more records will Bayer set?
Last weekend (matchday 29), Bayer clinched the first championship in the club’s history. Only twice in the history of the Bundesliga has the championship been decided earlier in a season.
79 points after 29 games is a new record anyway. Leverkusen also became the first Bundesliga club to go 29 games in a row without defeat in a single season.
The 5-0 win against Bremen was the tenth league victory in a row and set a new club record. The title was also celebrated with the fans last weekend.
At least coach Xabi Alonso’s men went into Thursday’s visit to West Ham with a championship hangover and played one of the weakest halves of the season
The dream of the treble is alive!
The newly crowned German champions had major problems against the Hammers’ high intensity before the break and were well served with a 1-0 deficit at the break.
The visitors were hemmed in at times and were unable to play their positional game because they never got into the tackles with force and conceded too many turnovers.
It was only in the second half, when coach Alonso introduced more speed and the Londoners had to pay tribute to their high tempo, that Bayer gained more control and left the pitch with a 1-1 draw.
Leverkusen will now face AS Roma in the Europa League semi-finals, as they did last year. They have also set a new record in the European top five leagues with 44 games without defeat
After 105 matches, BVB lead the comparison against B04 with 46 wins to 33 defeats. When visiting the Westphalians, the record speaks even more clearly in favor of the home side (30S, 11U, 11N).
Dortmund have won seven of their last eight home league games against Leverkusen, scoring a total of 26 goals in those eight matches. The Werkself are also winless against Borussia in three league games
This is Bayer’s longest run against current teams from the top flight. Xabi Alonso’s record as coach against Dortmund is one draw and one defeat.
B04 coach Alonso (2.25 PPG, 69% win percentage) and BVB coach Edin Terzic (2.00 PPG, 61%) are currently the two best BL coaches in terms of points average per game and win percentage
My BVB Leverkusen tip:
Of course, there are plenty of arguments in favor of Leverkusen in this match. The Werkself have recently celebrated seven wins in a row on their opponents’ pitch and have the best defense in the league.
But at some point Bayer will let up a few percent. Why not in the first game after clinching the championship? Mainly because Dortmund showed on Tuesday what they can do in front of a home crowd.
The direct comparison also gives BVB hope. In addition, Borussia were able to rest two days longer from their semi-final appearance and do not have the stress of traveling in their bones.
Whether that will really lead to the Werkself’s first defeat of the season is not yet clear. But a point should at least be possible for the home side.
A few goals are also likely to be scored. My Dortmund Leverkusen prediction is therefore: Double chance 1/x & Over 1.5 goals!
