EM tips today – predictions from June 22, 2024
The second matchday of the European Championship 2024 will be concluded with the three games this Saturday. The top match in Group F between Portugal and Turkey will take place in Dortmund.
Before that, Georgia and the Czech Republic will battle it out for a place in the last 16. From 21:00, Belgium will try to make up for their false start and pick up their first three points against Romania, who put in a strong performance on the first matchday.
For each of the last three games of the second European Championship matchday, the Betting Tips experts have once again drawn up their well-founded European Championship predictions. Here are the tips for all games:
Georgia – Czech Republic Euro betting tip
The Georgians put in a strong performance in their first ever appearance at the European Championship. They came close to at least a point against Turkey and only conceded the final goal in the last action of the game, when almost all the Georgians, including goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, were in the opponent’s penalty area at a corner.
The Czech Republic’s 2:1 defeat against Portugal was similarly bitter. The Eastern Europeans led 1-0 against the 2016 European champions before an unfortunate own goal and another equally unfortunate goal conceded in stoppage time left the Czechs empty-handed in the end.
Both teams now have to win their head-to-head clash if they want to keep their hopes of reaching the round of 16 alive. Georgia, in particular, will be looking for the three points, especially as they face Portugal on the final matchday. The Georgians scored a whopping 15 goals against the Turks and had an expected goals ratio of 2.03.
The Czechs focused on defense in the match against Portugal, but they also know that they will have to shed this attitude against the supposedly easiest opponent in this group. Our betting expert Christian is expecting a game with an open goal and opts for the Georgia-Czech Republic betting tip: “Over 3.5 goals” at odds of 3.40 at NEObet.
Turkey – Portugal Euro prediction
Betting expert Isabella also expects a few goals in the other Group F match. This is not least due to the fact that four goals were scored in each of the last two direct duels between Portugal and Turkey, even if the friendly match from June 2012, which the Turks won 3:1, was a little longer ago. The last time the two teams met was in the play-offs for the 2022 World Cup, when the Portuguese came out on top 3:1.
Both teams were victorious on the first matchday of this year’s European Championship, but struggled against Georgia and the Czech Republic. The Turks once again conceded a goal in their 3:1 victory. Only once in their last seven international matches have they kept a clean sheet.
The Selecao, on the other hand, needed the help of the Czechs, including an own goal, to run out 2-1 winners in the end. Speaking of winners: the winner of this duel will in all likelihood finish top of the group and thus avoid a possible round of 16 duel with European Championship favorites France.
In this respect, you can expect an entertaining game in which both teams will be looking for a way forward – our Isi is also convinced of this, which is why she recommends the Turkey Portugal tip: “Over 2.5 goals”. She found the best European Championship odds today at Betano with 1.70.
Belgium – Romania Euro prediction
A value of 1.97 for expected goals, two disallowed goals and a 0:1 defeat against underdog Slovakia: The first matchday was one to forget for European Championship co-favorite Belgium. Domenico Tedesco lost his first game as Belgium coach at this point of all times, having gone unbeaten 14 times in a row since taking charge (10S, 4U).
The Red Devils would have deserved at least a point and are now under considerable pressure after their opening defeat. The mood in the Romanian camp was completely different: the Tricolorii produced a truly brilliant performance to beat Ukraine 3:0, Romania’s second ever victory at a European Championship.
If our expert Alexander has his way, these two victories will be enough for now, knowing that the Romanians have only lost one of their last 16 international matches (8S, 7U). He sees de Bruyne and Co. as the favorites, but avoids a bet on the Belgians simply because the European Championship odds for them are quite low.
Instead, he opts for the Belgium Romania tip: “Belgium over 1.5 goals”. Before the defeat against Slovakia, in which Lukaku alone could have scored several goals, the Diables Rouges scored at least twice against England, Montenegro and Luxembourg. Betting on two or more Belgian goals against Romania has odds of 1.55 at Bwin.
