Alexander Merkel (32) has changed clubs once again. The former AC Milan and VfL Bochum player, who trained at VfB Stuttgart, has moved from Hatta Club in Dubai to first division club Nassaji Mazandaran in Iran. Merkel, who has three caps for his native Kazakhstan, was previously regarded as a promising talent for the DFB, for whom he played from the U-16s to the U-20s. In addition to Germany, Italy and the United Arab Emirates, the central midfielder has also played for England, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
