Süper Lig, Saturday, 27.05.2024
Was that the decisive slip-up that will ultimately cost them the championship? Fenerbahce have fallen behind with five matchdays remaining in the season and are now four points behind.
On Saturday, the Canaries must show that they still believe in themselves, and in a derby to boot. Why are they the clear favorites and why am I going with the double chance 1X at over 2.5 goals in my sports betting app? I’ll tell you now in my Fenerbahce Besiktas betting tip!
Galatasaray had gone ahead, Fenerbahce had to follow suit. The old game in Turkey, which has captivated us for months now, was to continue again last Monday.
The Canaries knew that a win against Sivasspor was the only way to stay two points behind Gala. The nerves seemed to hold until we looked deep into injury time, however.
It was a penalty of all things that made it 2-2 and saw Fener slip up again after seven wins in a row. Unfortunately, Galatasaray failed to do so and the gap has now grown to four points.
Theoretically, of course, it is still possible to catch up, but the latest setback is likely to have taken its toll. It is also striking that they have failed to score in eight of their last nine games
Defensively, the leaders are the measure of all things in the Süper Lig, while Fenerbahce’s greatest qualities are to be found in attack. With 87 goals to their name, nobody can beat that.
They have netted at least twice in eleven games, with only seven matches featuring fewer than two goals. Edin Dzeko stands out in particular with 20 goals this season, but six players have already scored nine times or more.
Only once, in November, did the team fail to win twice in a row, and that is exactly what is now threatening to happen again. How much of an advantage is it really that the derby against Besiktas is at home?
Twelve wins, three draws and this one defeat, four of the six games not won have been at home. But the offense seems to be looking forward to another performance in front of the fans.
48 goals were scored in 16 matches, and if I add the 19 goals conceded, the average at Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadı is 4.2 goals per game – there’s certainly no room for boredom!
Only twice the 2.5 goals were not exceeded, could it be interesting that this also affected the derby against Galatasaray? Such a derby is of course always explosive, even if the opponent this time has rather low ambitions.
Besiktas have never been able to intervene in the title fight, and with 15 wins, six draws and twelve defeats, it’s no wonder. 44 goals? That’s almost exactly half of what Fenerbahce conjure up on the pitch!
After five games without a win in a row, the Black Eagles at least won 2-0 against Ankaragücü, but they were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw against the same opponents in the first leg of the semi-final at Türkiye Kupasi a few days ago.
Not an atypical result, because: Eleven of the last twelve games in the Süper Lig have fallen short of 2.5 goals, and once there were exactly three. What’s more, eleven of the last 14 have not produced a “both teams score” result.
One away win since Christmas? Not exactly the best prerequisite for playing at Fenerbahce’s stadium! Is there nothing to give Besiktas fans hope ahead of Saturday’s derby?
The history actually shows something! Only two of the last eleven matches against Fener have been lost, including the 3-1 defeat in the first half of the season. Two defeats in a row against the Canaries? That was last the case in 2014/15.
From Fenerbahce’s point of view, the most recent home games against Besiktas went like this: 2:4, 2:2, 3:4, 3:1, 1:1 and 3:0, there was definitely not little on offer here. Nevertheless, the best betting providers such as Merkur Sports provide you with rather clear odds, a 1.45 meets a 6.30.
One look at the table is enough to know: Fenerbahce is significantly stronger than Besiktas and should actually win based on all the statistics. However, there has just been this one setback in terms of the title fight and derbies of this kind are rarely won.
As a result, I’m taking a cautious approach with the double chance 1X, as I simply don’t trust the visitors to win three. Offensively, nobody can fool the Canaries, home games are always high-scoring.
Since the fans get to see an average of 4.2 goals and Besiktas already had to play in the cup during the week, I combine the double chance with an over bet and say in my Fenerbahce Besiktas betting tip:
Fenerbahce will score more than 2.5 goals!
