The favorites for the Baku GP 2024
Will the end of the Formula 1 season be more explosive than it has been for years? Max Verstappen continues to lead the drivers’ standings comfortably with 303 points – but his lead is shrinking bit by bit.
After six races without a win and a score of just 84 points, his closest rival Lando Norris is now “only” 62 points behind the three-time world champion.
Can the Briton make up further ground with a win on the street circuit in Azerbaijan? The Baku GP forecast clearly speaks for it in advance, because Lando Norris is the absolute top favorite!
Max Verstappen, on the other hand, is only considered a co-favorite after his recent weaker results
The Dutchman is even behind Oscar Piastri and Ferrari star Charles Leclerc – who recently won sensationally at Monza – in the pre-race weekend predictions.
Oscar Piastri in particular is a force to be reckoned with after his two second places at Spa and recently at the Italian GP.
But: Red Bull likes the track in Baku. The team has won four of the seven races in Azerbaijan so far, including the last three.
Who else has a chance?
Mercedes can also be expected to achieve a strong top position. Although the Silver Arrows have recently failed to finish on the podium twice, a very good result on the narrow street circuit is certainly within the realms of possibility.
