Date & Start time: When is the Formula 1 Austrian GP 2024?
This weekend, motorsport’s premier class will make a guest appearance in Spielberg, where the Austrian Grand Prix is scheduled.
In addition to the Grand Prix on Sunday, the Austrian GP schedule also includes a sprint race on Saturday.
The Spielberg GP program starts with the 1st free practice session on Friday (June 28) at 12:30 pm. This is also the only practice session for the drivers this weekend. This will be followed by sprint qualifying (“Sprint Shootout”) at 16:30.
The sprint race will take place on Saturday (June 29) at 12:00 noon. The starting grid for the race in Spielberg will be decided in qualifying from 16:00.
The “main race”, the Austrian Grand Prix, starts at 15:00 on Sunday. This will last 71 laps
Formula 1 broadcast: Who is showing the Austrian GP live?
The Formula 1 TV broadcast for the 2024 season will be shown in full on Sky in Germany. Every session can be seen there – from practice and qualifying to the race. Individual qualifying sessions, sprints and races will also be broadcast on free-to-air TV on RTL.
This weekend’s Austrian GP will be broadcast live and exclusively on Sky.
The Munich-based pay-TV provider will broadcast the entire race weekend on Sky Sport F1. The live pre-race coverage on Sunday begins at 13:30, 90 minutes before the start of the race

Peter Hardenacke leads through the program as presenter. Ralf Schumacher or Timo Glock will be on duty as a pundit, while Sascha Roos will accompany the race in Spielberg as a commentator.
RTL will only broadcast the Austrian GP on free-to-air TV for the sprint race on Saturday. Thanks to the content partnership with Sky, RTL will also be streaming Saturday’s qualifying on RTL+.
The favorites for the Austrian GP 2024
Will there be a home win for Red Bull and Max Verstappen at the Austrian Grand Prix?
The predictions and Austrian GP betting odds from bookie Bwin definitely say so.
The Dutchman has 219 points ahead of the eleventh race of the season. This puts him 69 points ahead of second-placed Lando Norris in the drivers’ standings.
