In my opinion, real value lies in a draw bet. This is because the ratio between stake and payout of 1 to 4 has a much better reward-risk ratio in the context of a classic 1X2 bet.
Morocco are very stable at the back and have already stood up to top teams such as the Netherlands and Brazil. The French may be the top favorite according to the 2026 World Cup World Cup odds, but this task will still not be easy to solve!
If you want to reduce the risk, you can alternatively play half-time or full-time score: draw at a 1.75. In all likelihood, this game will be so close that a 0-0 at half-time or 1-1 after 90 minutes are very realistic results.

With the 1-0 victory against Paraguay, France delivered the least convincing performance at this tournament so far. Against a physically strong and deep-lying defence, the French found it difficult to create clear scoring chances from the game.
However, this success in particular has also shown that Didier Deschamps’ team is capable of winning games even dirty. If the collective doesn’t work, the team can rely on the individual genius of its exceptional players.
Morocco will have watched this game closely. They have the tactical discipline to make life difficult for favourites. They have already impressively proven that against Brazil and the Netherlands at this finals.
This, by the way, is a repeat of the 2022 semi-finals, and Morocco has not been the same team since. They have developed from a pure counter-attacking team to a strong team that wants to control the game itself.
With an average of 60% possession, they are on a par with the French at this tournament. Unlike the clash in Qatar, where they had only 40% possession, they will no longer rely solely on a massive defence.
Exactly this new, bolder style of play could also harbor dangers in my France Morocco prediction. If they advance too far against Deschamps’ lightning-fast strikers, they will incur a poisonous counterattack in no time at all!
France form curve
France secured their place in the quarter-finals with a hard-fought 1-0 win over resilient Paraguay. The decisive goal was scored by captain Kylian Mbappé from the penalty spot in the second half of the match.
At the beginning, the Équipe Tricolore clearly dominated the game, but failed in a frustrating first half to break through the massive defense of the South Americans. There was not a single shot on the opponent’s goal.
With Désiré Doué, however, the French turned the tide in the 70th minute. His kick in the penalty area provoked the foul that led to the penalty.
This aspect of being able to bring plenty of quality from the bench in the late phase of a game, I have also taken into account as part of my France Morocco tip.
Incidentally, it was Mbappé’s 19th goal at a final tournament, which puts him just one goal behind Lionel Messi’s record. He proves once again that he is the decisive man for the important moments in knockout games.
The match against Paraguay took place in extreme heat and will go down in the books as one of the hottest games in the history of the tournament. As a result, the physical strain from this game could still play a role for the team in the further course of the tournament.
By the way: With this victory, coach Didier Deschamps set a new record! It was his tenth victory in a knockout match at a World Cup. France is thus in the quarter-finals of the tournament for the ninth time in history.
Morocco Form Curve
Morocco has also made history, becoming the first African nation to reach back-to-back quarter-finals. They secured their place in the last eight with a clear 3-0 victory over co-hosts Canada.
However, the result is deceptive about the course of the game. Especially in the first half, the “Lions of the Atlas” had a hard time against the high pressing of the Canadians and did not find their usual playful ease.
The first half was also characterized by exaggerated toughness and nervousness, which was reflected in six yellow cards. In my France Morocco tip, I also expect a robust start of the team on Thursday.
Coach Mohamed Ouahbi proved his tactical skills with the right adjustments at half-time. Morocco then turned up the heat and converted all three shots on goal in the second half into goals.
The team has developed enormously since 2022. Ten goals from an xG value of 8.32 is a significant increase compared to the tournament in Qatar, where they often looked harmless offensively and relied on counterattacks.
