Europa League, Quarter-final, Second Leg, Thursday, 17.04.2025 at 21:00
An international evening in Frankfurt – floodlights on, awe off! Eintracht has impressed us several times in our Europa League tips this season, but now they have to prevail against a big name. So am I pessimistic in my Frankfurt Tottenham tip?
I wouldn’t put it that way. After all, the Spurs are by no means a top team this season, so I see them on par with the Eagles. Since they are relying on their home strength, I see good chances for a turbulent, fast-paced game.
In this respect, I am clearly betting on “Both teams to score.” The North Londoners have yet to keep a clean sheet in international competition this season when playing away from home. On the other hand, English opponents are not exactly something Frankfurt loves.
There could have been far more than just two goals in the first leg, with the first half alone offering the potential for four or five. So the spectators at Deutsche Bank Park should know that we could be in for an absolute spectacle if both attacking lines are in the mood.
Of course, Frankfurt and Tottenham could also play defensively, but there is so much fire in this game that I can’t imagine a boring 90 minutes – and maybe it will even be 120.
The bookmakers’ prediction
How are our tax-free betting providers approaching this match? After the first leg, it’s not at all clear to them who has the upper hand on Thursday. Accordingly, there are even bookmakers who are giving Tottenham and Frankfurt identical odds for the match.
On average, I can tell you that Eintracht are being given odds of 2.50, while the visitors from London are being given odds of 2.60. So there doesn’t seem to be a clear favorite. Nevertheless, the odds for a draw are not particularly low, at 3.60.
What about the question of who will advance? Here, too, the bookies are not favoring anyone! You can secure odds of 1.85, regardless of whether you bet on SGE or the Spurs.
AI prediction Frankfurt vs Tottenham: ChatGPT’s prediction
Is it a good decision to consult ChatGPT in such a high-stakes game? Not always, but the AI has generated some interesting suggestions for this match.
The high-risk tip this time is for a 2-1 home win. Given that Tottenham have only won twice away in the current competition, and both wins were narrow, I can well imagine that happening. The first leg also showed how close Frankfurt and Tottenham are.
Added to this is the simple tip “Frankfurt wins.” I can only agree with the bookmakers’ prediction, because I also think that both teams are equally capable of winning here. Therefore, a home win is of course not out of the question.
Will there be more than 2.5 goals? That wasn’t the case in the first leg, despite countless chances. However, as I expect both clubs to take more risks on Thursday, I agree with this AI prediction.
Analysis: Frankfurt vs Tottenham
It’s set to be a big night of soccer in Frankfurt, with the result to match, of course. Eintracht took a 1-1 draw away from Tottenham last week, so everything is still to play for in the return leg against the Spurs.
Both teams fought hard from the start, but in the end, SGE had to admit that the 1-1 draw was a lucky result, with their opponents missing several big chances.
Two defeats, a narrow victory and now a draw – the last few international away games could definitely have gone better. It’s good that Hessen now have a home game to look forward to.
4-1 against Ajax Amsterdam, 2-0 against Ferencvaros, 1-0 against Slavia Prague, 1-0 against RFS and 3-3 against Viktoria Pilsen (two very late goals, the 3-3 came in injury time) – the results at Deutsche Bank Park are impressive.
Odds analysis
Frankfurt has scored four times in the first half of its last three Europa League games, even though the opponents, Tottenham and Ajax, were certainly not easy. If Eintracht scores before halftime on Thursday, you can get odds of 1.93 at Betano.
Since four of Frankfurt’s five home games have been tied at halftime, a draw could also be a good bet. The odds jump to 2.25.
And if we’re betting that Frankfurt will score in the first half, we almost have to consider a 1-1 score at halftime.
Now the odds are 6.40. At Betano, you can not only secure the top odds, but also get a $20 free bet with the code “BONUSVIP.”
Frankfurt wants to use its home advantage
First of all, regardless of the venue, Frankfurt has been behind at half-time in the Europa League. In addition, they have conceded two goals before the break in each of their last three games. So does the bet “Over 1.5 goals in the first half” make sense on Thursday?
The odds at Bet365 would be 2.50. RFS, Slavia Prague, and Ferencvaros? The fact that the Eagles have played three times at home without conceding a goal may be respectable, but these three clubs are by no means comparable to Tottenham.
How will Frankfurt deal with the fact that they have to eliminate an English competitor? With six wins from 20 games, it’s not exactly a good omen that they now face a club from the island.
2022 Frankfurt also faced the Spurs in the group stage of the Champions League, with a 0-0 draw and a 2-3 defeat for the Hessians. Is there anything else I can report on the national dress rehearsal?
Frankfurt played at home against Heidenheim on Sunday. Although things haven’t been consistent this season, the victory was never in danger, and in the end the hosts cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win without even having to push themselves to the limit.
Tottenham in search of stability
On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 2-4 defeat against Wolverhampton, with the fans no longer surprised by such losses. There is not much at stake in the Premier League anymore, but the Europa League title would secure an international spot in 2025/26.
The players must be all the more motivated, because the 2024/25 season as a whole is anything but exhilarating. After three wins to start the Europa League (3-0 against Qarabag, 2-1 against Ferencvaros, and 1-0 against Alkmaar), things went downhill.
A 2-3 defeat against Galatasaray, a 2-2 draw against Roma, a 1-1 draw against Glasgow Rangers, a narrow 3-2 win against Hoffenheim and a 3-0 defeat against Elfsborg? Given the opponents, it quickly becomes clear that reality has nothing to do with the team’s own expectations.
The team finally scraped through the round of 16 against Alkmaar. They lost 0-1 away, but a 3-1 win at home was enough to see them through. Clean sheets? One in the last eight games.
Clean sheets away from home? None! One goal conceded against Ferencvaros, at Rangers and Alkmaar, two in Hoffenheim, plus three at Galatasaray – Eintracht should have a good chance on Thursday.
However, with 21 goals scored, the offense has nothing to be ashamed of. Six different players have scored at least two goals, and with 13 different goal scorers, the responsibility is fairly distributed.
Good news for Frankfurt: Tottenham has lost six of its last seven away games in international knockout stages against German opponents. In four of the last five games, they didn’t even score a single goal.
My Frankfurt Tottenham prediction:
Will Eintracht Frankfurt make a statement in the Europa League? If they knock Tottenham Hotspur out, the competition will be on alert. The title is the big goal, and the results against Ajax have sparked dreams.
We all know that the North Londoners are not in good shape for 2024/25. They concede far too many goals away from home, and I’m still not entirely sure how much the stars are really interested in the Europa League.
However, as this is probably their last chance to sneak into international competition for next season, I’m expecting a brutally close match in which neither team will give an inch. So my prediction is:
Both teams to score!
