Süper Lig, Monday, 28.10.2024 at 6:00 PM
Will this season see a clash between two giants from Istanbul? In the Süper Lig, the defending champions are back on top again, but they have a tough competitor. That’s exactly who they’ll face on Sunday.
It’s derby time again on the Bosporus and the country is holding its breath: Who will be ahead in my Galatasaray Besiktas prediction? The two undefeated teams will give nothing away and I suspect: Boredom? That’s not likely to happen at RAMS Park!
Actually, Galatasaray can’t top this historic 2023/24 season, you’d think! In the end, the score was in triple digits as the fans celebrated the championship extensively.
Admittedly, it’s actually impossible for this season to play out identically, but the start is once again awesome. Eight wins and a draw – and Gala only has itself to blame for that one point!
A 3-0 lead was squandered against Kasimpasa, but fortunately that was the only slip-up. 27 goals? Nobody else has scored that many, and the team only managed one goal on one occasion.
Three or even more? That has already happened six times! If I want to find something to criticize, then perhaps the last two home games were a bit too exciting in the eyes of the fans.
On the one hand, there was the stupid 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa, and then there was the very narrow 1-0 win against Alanyaspor. Speaking of close and (rather) goal-rich, the Lions are also staying true to this style in the Europa League.
Recently, there was a 4-3 thriller against Elfsborg, before that there was a 2-2 draw against RFS and a 3-1 win against PAOK Saloniki. So, conceding goals is becoming a regular occurrence. It would be very easy if Gala had the one goal scorer.
What Mauro Icardi often had to do alone last season is now spread across many shoulders. There are actually already nine players who have scored at least twice in the Süper Lig.
The opponents hardly know who to mark first. With the exception of Ismail Jakobs, no star is injured, so the Lions can draw on a full squad this weekend and field the best eleven.
Of course, the smallest details are what make or break a derby. And no fan has forgotten that the national Supercup against Besiktas was lost 5-0 a few months ago!
In Galatasaray’s fairytale season, they won 2-1 and 1-0, so it was very close. What is particularly special in the direct comparison is that there has only been one draw in the last 15 derbies.
Galatasaray has a more than impressive home record. Six wins and a draw, let’s keep it up! Incidentally, the last three home games were all won 2-1.
If this is the exact result this time, you could get odds of 8.75 at Betano. We have to go back to 2010 if we want to remember when Gala last lost a Süper Lig home game to Besiktas in the first half of the season.
This also explains why the hosts are favored with average odds of 1.85 to 3.85. It certainly can’t be because of Besiktas, who have been really good with six wins and two draws.
Five goals conceded? The defense is the best in the competition! They have already won four times without conceding a goal, and four of their six wins have been by 2-0. They have also won 4-2 and 3-0, which means:
Whenever Besiktas win, they win by at least two goals! There was also a sense of achievement in the Europa League a few days ago, because after defeats to Ajax and Frankfurt, they managed a 1-0 win in Lyon.
If there is one thing that worries the Black Eagles’ fans a little, it is perhaps that the two draws this season were away from their own stadium (1-1 against Trabzonspor and Gaziantep).
Incidentally, Beşiktaş has a top scorer in its ranks: Ciro Immobile has eight goals! If he becomes the hero of the derby, you can get odds of 2.45 at Oddset and also benefit from the Oddset bonus.
Galatasaray or Besiktas, which team is currently the best in Istanbul? Both have different playing styles. What Gala does offensively, Besiktas does defensively.
Historically, I have definitely seen advantages for the Lions. The title defender is firing on all cylinders in the league and the EL, with a number of stars already scoring three times. But Besiktas has Ciro Immobile in the RAMS Park.
So the bottom line is that I believe that Gala’s home series will continue in this derby. At least in terms of the number of goals. That’s why I’m also recommending the following tip to you:
We see more than 2.5 goals!
