No sensations in the women’s singles! At the French Open 2024, the world’s best are fighting their way from round to round. If they now meet directly in the quarter-finals, it will be increasingly difficult to name favorites.
I’m now looking at the clash between the world number 3 and the world number 9, for which the bookmakers have a clear favorite. In my Gauff Jabeur tip, I’ll tell you why that’s also the case for me and why I’m looking at a 2:0 for the US player!
Coco Gauff has been a so-called talent of the century for a long time, some people can hardly believe that she only turned 20 in March. But it took a little while before the really big successes came.
But now they are here. Her greatest triumph was of course at the recent US Open, when she was successful in front of her home crowd. A little later at the Australian Open, she made it all the way to the semi-finals.
Gauff’s performances are undoubtedly becoming more consistent, although her clay court season to date has not been quite as strong. Things finally got better with the semi-final in Rome, just in time for the French Open.
The young American reached the final in Paris in 2022, and now she wants to repeat that feat. Her performances so far leave no doubt that she is capable of doing just that
After her 6-1, 6-1 win over Julija Avdejeva in the opening round, she had no problems in the second round either, beating Tamara Zidansek 6-3, 6-4. Even Dajana Jastremska, who was among the top 30 seeded players, had no chance with a 6-2, 6-4 win.
In the round of 16, Gauff was lucky not to have a really tough opponent in Elisabetta Cocciaretto. This naturally played into the hands of the co-favorite for the title, who quickly won 6-1, 6-2.
The 1.75m tall right-hander didn’t concede a single set, so it’s no wonder that she is expected to win the trophy. But now she first has to reach the round of the best four, which will be anything but easy against Ons Jabeur
The two players have already met six times directly, with Gauff leading 4:2. Three years ago, she won 6-3, 6-1 at the French Open. With odds of 1.20 to 4.50, she is once again ahead with our bookmakers.
The Tunisian has reached a Grand Slam final three times in the last two years, but has never won. Paris is certainly not her favorite venue, she has only reached the quarter-finals here once.
Should she actually make it to the semi-finals, she would have already secured her best result at Roland Garros. Although she only dropped one set during the tournament, her results were still somewhat closer than Gauff’s.
The 6-3, 6-2 win against Sachia Vickery was clear-cut, but she had to fight a lot harder in the 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 against Camila Osorio. Leylah Fernandez also kept up well, with Jabeur ultimately winning a relatively close match 6-4, 7-6.
Her opponent in the round of 16 was Clara Tauson, where Jabeur won 6-4, 6-4. All in all, she is naturally satisfied with her victories, but also knows that she needs more to be able to pose a threat to Coco Gauff.
The 29-year-old has yet to reach a semi-final on clay this year, only convincing in Madrid by reaching the round of the best eight. Will that be enough to hold her own against the world No. 3?

Coco Gauff seems eager to tackle her next major triumph in Paris! She doesn’t give her opponents any breaks, doesn’t lose any sets and usually wins in a hurry.
Although Ons Jabeur has only lost one set, she is having a much tougher time, which is why I’ll make my betting recommendation relatively quick and say:
Gauff wins easily against Jabeur!
