Paraguay will continue to rely on coach Gustavo Alfaro (64) in the future after the successful 2026 World Cup. The Argentine, who led Paraguay to the round of 16 at the tournament in North America and sensationally defeated the DFB team on the way, extended his contract until 2030. Alfaro will thus also look after the team at the upcoming World Cup. At the anniversary tournament in 2030, 100 years after the first edition, Paraguay will host a group match and is thus already qualified. Under Alfaro, who has been in office since 2024, Paraguay had qualified for a World Cup finals for the first time since 2010.
