Girona – Mallorca Tip, Prediction & Odds 05.05.2025

La Liga, Matchday 34 on Monday, 05.05.2025 at 21:00

Mallorca has five games left to play in the Primera Division, then we will know whether their dream of international competition has come true or not. Currently, they are winning far too rarely, but seventh place is still within reach.

On Monday, they face an opponent that is virtually in a permanent crisis. Accordingly, I’ll tell you in my Girona Mallorca tip why I’m favoring the visitors and therefore going for the “Double Chance X2.”

La Liga will have five Champions League spots in the 2025/26 season, so even the eighth-placed team in the final table can still look forward to European football. There are only five points between seventh and 14th place, so no one knows yet who will come out on top.

It’s crazy that Mallorca is even in contention for Europe with only three wins in their last 14 games. The Bermellones weren’t aiming for the Conference or Europa League, but now they’re dreaming of it.

And that’s despite scoring only 31 goals in 33 games! Only two teams have a weaker offense: Leganes and Real Valladolid, the bottom two teams in the table.

A few days ago, Mallorca lost 0-1 to FC Barcelona, their third defeat in five games. The team has failed to score in 13 games this season, including nine games in which they failed to score.

When the game ends in a draw, the only options are 0-0 or 1-1. Interestingly, in ten of the last eleven games, there were no goals in the first half, but nine were scored after the break.

0-2 against Atletico, 1-1 against Sevilla, 1-1 against Bilbao, 0-1 against Valencia, 2-0 against Real Sociedad, and 0-1 against Barcelona? The last six away games have not been particularly high-scoring.

With the exception of a 1-2 defeat at Espanyol Barcelona, the Bermellones have always lost away from home without conceding a goal. Interestingly, only once have both teams scored in the first half of an away game.

I’m happy to include home games in this statistic, because that brings us to a total of four matches. Mallorca’s offensive problems are of course also related to the fact that they have a few key players out injured.

Vedat Muriqi, Takuma Asano, and Manu Morlanes are all missing, which is hurting the team’s offensive punch. At least Girona has been a favorite opponent in the recent past, with Mallorca winning the last three matches.

From a historical perspective, it is very interesting to note that 14 of the last 15 games have had a maximum of one goal difference, which shows how close these two teams are.

In addition, Girona has the upper hand at home, winning four of their last five home games and losing only one. So I can totally see why our PayPal betting providers have set their odds like this.

Mallorca is the underdog going into the match, with average odds of 3.90 to 2.05. On the other hand, Girona isn’t exactly having a great season – quite the opposite, in fact.

Last season’s surprise team has crashed and burned and is not even safe from relegation yet. A win would see them move six points clear of the drop zone.

It’s time for the Gironistas to get this season over and done with. They have lost almost half of their games and have only managed nine wins. They haven’t picked up three points since the beginning of February, a run that now stretches to eleven games.

With 16 goals at home and 14 away, home games are at least a slight advantage in terms of offense. Although this entire round is not particularly strong, the team recently lost two home games in a row for the first time.

Las Palmas, Real Valladolid, Espanyol, and Leganes? Girona celebrated its last four home wins against clubs that are all in double digits, three of which are fighting against relegation themselves – which is certainly not the case for Mallorca.

Are either team in top form? Neither Mallorca nor Girona are. On Monday, we will face two teams that are anything but satisfied. Nevertheless, while RCD still has a chance to qualify for Europe, the Reds are collecting the last points they need to stay up.

Ultimately, I expect a close game between two evenly matched teams, especially as the visitors don’t have much to offer in attack. However, as I think Mallorca are in slightly better form, my prediction is:

Mallorca won’t lose in Girona!
