With Hugo Bolin (22), Ko Takai (21) and Alejo Sarco (20), Borussia relied on three young players with high development potential in the past transfer period. However, options with significantly more experience were also explored. As kicker learned, sporting director Rouven Schröder had also examined a return of Ko Itakura. The central defender had only moved from Gladbach to Ajax Amsterdam in the summer for just under eleven million euros. For various reasons, however, a transfer was not feasible.
