Hanover binds Weinkauf for another two years

Hannover 96 have extended the contract with Leo Weinkauf, which expires on 30 June. The 29-year-old keeper signed a contract until 2028.Weinkauf has been under contract with 96 since 2018, making him the longest-serving player in head coach Christian Titz’s squad. After a loan spell of several years at MSV Duisburg, he has been wearing the jersey of the Lower Saxony club without interruption since 2022, for whom he has since played four cup games and 36 competitive games for the U23s. Whether Weinkauf will be number 1 in the 2026/27 season remains to be seen. Hannover tried to get Florian Hellstern (VfB II), after his rejection Union’s Matheo Raab is said to be a candidate to succeed Nahuel Noll, who has returned to TSG Hoffenheim.
