Will BVB cap their comeback in the Bundesliga with a ticket to international competition? Could they even make it to the Champions League? I’ll answer these questions in my Hoffenheim Dortmund prediction.
Dortmund have picked up ten points from their last four Bundesliga games to climb to seventh place. This is Borussia’s best position since matchday 15.
Sixth place is only two points away. And fourth place is only four points away.
The task on matchday 31 also seems achievable. Hoffenheim has been fighting relegation all season and is still not 100 percent safe. However, TSG could seal the deal this weekend.
To do so, they would need to get three points against BVB and hope that Heidenheim does not win away in Stuttgart. However, I find it difficult to imagine a home win for Coach Ilzer’s men.
Instead, I’m going with my Hoffenheim Dortmund prediction at odds of 1.82 at NEO.bet for the bet “Double Chance X/2 & both teams to score.”
The bookmakers’ predictions?
The quality, form, and position in the table of the two opponents have not escaped the attention of the bookmakers with German licenses when setting the Hoffenheim vs. Dortmund odds.
The visitors are therefore the favorites going into the game with an average win rate of 1.75. On the other hand, a win for the home team is rewarded with betting odds between 4.00 and 4.30.

I can live with that suggestion. BVB are in good form, need to catch up in the race for a European place and will be playing for the win right from the start at TSG.
However, Betway is only offering odds of 1.60 for this low risk. If that’s not enough for you, take a look at ChatGPT’s suggestion with a medium risk.
Here, the AI predicts “Over 3.5 goals,” which pays out at odds of 2.01 at VBET. I also expect a few goals in this game. Under Niko Kovac, Dortmund is averaging five more shots on goal per game than before.
In addition, strikers in good form such as Serhou Guirassy and Andrej Kramaric will be facing each other. Last but not least, we also have a high-risk Hoffenheim Dortmund tip.

At least Hoffenheim ended a run of eight Bundesliga home games without a win (5 draws, 3 losses) with a 2-0 victory over Mainz on matchday 29. It was the first time TSG had kept a clean sheet in 34 Bundesliga home games.
On the last matchday, coach Ilzer’s men were defeated 3-2 in Freiburg. Sixteen points in the second half of the season (4W, 4D, 5L) are enough for 13th place in the second half of the table.
The hosts will be without Tom Bischof on Saturday due to a yellow card suspension. The midfielder has collected the most assists for the Kraichgauers this season (45).
Odds analysis
Even without the help of AI, there are still some Hoffenheim Dortmund tips to be found in this match. I also expect a few goals from both sides and can well imagine betting on “Both teams to score & Over 2.5 goals” at odds of 1.70 with Bwin.
The following figures also support this prediction: TSG have never kept a clean sheet in their last 12 home games against BVB. In addition, Dortmund and Hoffenheim have only managed two games without conceding a goal since matchday 12.
A high-scoring game naturally requires goal scorers. Serhou Guirassy in particular poses a major threat. The BVB striker leads the Champions League scoring charts and is the Bundesliga’s top scorer in the second half of the season (9 goals).

Hoffenheim vs Dortmund: Will BVB’s comeback continue?
BVB has been lagging far behind its own expectations in the Bundesliga all season. But there may still be a happy ending for Borussia. For the first time this calendar year, Dortmund is unbeaten in four Bundesliga games (3W, 1D).
During this period, the Black and Yellows picked up as many points (10) as they did in their previous eleven Bundesliga games combined. The Westphalians boast the best conversion rate in the league (33.1%) and the second-best shot conversion (20.1%).
Winter signings Svensson and Chukwuemeka have also made a good impression. In the 3-2 home win against Gladbach on the last matchday, Chelsea loanee Chukwuemeka even made the difference.
The Englishman recently formed a strong trio in midfield alongside Groß and Nmecha. Thanks to the three points against Gladbach, BVB have overtaken them in the table and even reduced the gap to the Champions League places.
But there is still work to be done. Dortmund has kept only five clean sheets in the first 30 Bundesliga matchdays of 2024/25. The last time they had so few was in 1990/91 (4). They are also only 13th in the away table.
Coach Niko Kovac will have to do without Groß, Sabitzer, and Schlotterbeck on Saturday. Chukwuemeka, on the other hand, can hope for a place in the starting line-up.
When will TSG’s home misery against BVB come to an end?
Hoffenheim has won only eight of 36 matches against Dortmund. They have drawn eleven and lost 17. In Sinsheim, the statistics from the hosts’ perspective are five wins, five draws, and six defeats.
The most recent encounters are particularly significant for the Hoffenheim Dortmund prediction. The Kraichgauers have lost all of their last four Bundesliga home games against Borussia.
That is twice as many defeats as in all 12 previous Bundesliga home games against BVB combined. The first leg of the current season ended in a 1-1 draw at Signal Iduna Park.
The visitors scored the equalizer in the first minute of stoppage time. Hoffenheim even won last season’s away game in Westphalia 3-2.
My Hoffenheim Dortmund tip:
I feel the same way about this game as the bookmakers: I see the visitors coming out on top. That has a lot to do with their form and the head-to-head record, of course. But I’m also a little cautious.
BVB are still one of the weakest away teams in the league. In addition, TSG are still fighting to avoid relegation. So I’m hedging my bet on Borussia with the double chance.
