A new era has dawned in Ligue 1. Kylian Mbappé has hung up his PSG shirt and will no longer play scurrying defenses in French soccer for the time being.
Luis Enrique is entering his second season with the 12-time French champions. He has an extremely young squad at his disposal (23.7 years on average), which was strengthened in the summer, particularly at the back.
Le Havre will start the new season with young coach Didier Digard. The 38-year-old favors bold offensive soccer and thus helps my Le Havre PSG tip. I’m placing it with Betano at odds of 1.75 for “Both teams to score”
It took a lot from Le Havre last year to stay in the top flight after their promotion to the French top flight. “Le club doyen” ultimately stayed three points above the bottom line and thus in Ligue 1.
Le Havre picked up one of their 32 points on matchday 31 against PSG, when they managed a surprising and wild 3:3 away from home. If this inspires you, you can now register with ODDSET and play at odds of 6.50 for a “Le Havre win”
PSG let Kylian Mbappé leave in the summer, ushering in a new era. The capital city side have strengthened their defense in particular with young, highly talented players. Top Portuguese talent Joao Neves (19) came from Benfica for around 60 million euros and Willian Pacho (22) from Eintracht Frankfurt for 20 million euros less.
It doesn’t get much better than the 1.45 win odds at NEObet, which is why a simple “PSG win” doesn’t get a place in my Le Havre PSG tip
Didier Digard left his first mark in the French top flight as interim coach of Nice. Those in charge there rated his abilities extremely highly and paid him 25,000 euros per game due to his lack of a UEFA Pro License at the time.
Digard thanked them and led Nice to a run of 14 unbeaten games. With his new employer, the 38-year-old is now tasked with ensuring the club stays in the league.
There were partial successes as well as setbacks during the preparations. Le Havre scored at least one goal in five of six test matches, but failed to score in the dress rehearsal against VfL Bochum (0:6)
PSG did not spread fear and terror during their preparations. Les Parisiens missed out on a win against both Sturm Graz (2:2) and RB Leipzig.
They still need to find their defensive processes and familiarize the new signings with Luis Enrique’s ideas.
This could add a certain amount of excitement to the first matches of the new season in particular and give outsiders like Le Havre a chance
Last season, the home side were an unpleasant opponent at the Stade Océan. As a promoted team, Le Havre achieved an average of 1.18 points per home game and also held their own against stronger opponents (18:19 goals in 17 home games).
I would particularly like to highlight the two home wins against Nice (3:1) and Olympique Lyon (3:1) in the middle of the season.
Under Didier Digard, I expect the hosts to be even more attack-minded than last season. The 38-year-old repeatedly emphasized his penchant for attacking soccer in interviews during preparations
Last season, it was not unusual for PSG to be the better team in a match, but to lose concentration in certain phases.
This regularly invited their league rivals to score goals. Six of PSG’s seven final matchdays met the requirements for a successful “Both teams to score” bet
How difficult the start to the season can be for “Les Parisiens” can be seen from the first results of the past season.
Luis Enrique’s side won just three of their first seven league games and conceded at least one goal in four of their first five matches
Surprising results always happen at the start of a new season and Le Havre are an unknown quantity for PSG with a new coach on the sidelines.
Didier Digard’s attacking mindset could make this match much more attractive than it looks on paper, in my opinion.
My Le Havre PSG tip is therefore: Both teams will score!
