La Liga 2, Sunday, 02.06.2024
First the European Cup, then La Liga 2! In Spain, things are getting really busy again this weekend and the European Championship seems a long way off. Also because the final decisions are pending in the Segunda Division.
The runner-up will be promoted directly – but who will that be? The favorite for this spot will play its decisive home game on Sunday.
In my Leganes Elche betting tip, I’ll tell you why I share the opinion of the bookmakers and am backing a win for the home side here!
Admittedly, we are slowly but surely turning our attention to the European Championship, which begins on June 14. And not just us, but of course also our bookmakers, where you should already be on the lookout for lucrative bonus offers.
However, the leagues in Europe have not yet dropped the final bombshell, and there are still decisions to be made, particularly with regard to promotions. In the second Spanish league, the top two teams are promoted directly, with a field behind them to determine another newcomer
Leganes would like to avoid the exciting play-offs if possible. The starting position ahead of the final matchday is clear: just don’t lose! The Madrilenians are currently three points ahead of Eibar.
That may only be enough, because if both clubs have the same number of points at the end of the season, the direct comparison will decide – and Leganes have lost exactly that
Despite this, CD are still playing the role of the team that has everything in its own hands. They have only lost eight of 41 games, so fans can be almost certain that they will score again this weekend.
Also interesting: six of those eight defeats were by a 1-0 scoreline. Two narrow wins from the last nine games? Leganes clearly have themselves to blame for the fact that promotion has still not been wrapped up
The points have already been shared 14 times and too many points have been given away here. This is particularly true of the home games, where I can see a total of eight draws.
The Pepineros have scored 54 goals, so there is not much going on offensively. A brace has been scored six times in the entire season, which usually means a maximum of two goals per game
But the team has the best defense, only conceding 27 goals and collecting 19 white vests. However, too many mistakes are creeping in at the end of the season, and the team has conceded goals in five games!
For the first time since the beginning of November, so it’s been a long time, the team should now be able to deliver two home wins in a row. What about Elche, will one of their favorite opponents make the trip?
The team lost 1-0 in the first half of the season, that can’t happen this time. The two clubs have only played each other three times since 2004, so we don’t have to worry about the direct comparison.
I mentioned at the beginning that Leganes are seen as the frontrunners by the bookmakers. The odds for this amount to an average of 1.55 to 6.20, so the lead is definitely clear
Elche, at home in the province of Alicante, actually wanted to play for promotion themselves in 2023/24 in order to kick against Real Madrid and Co. again soon. Speaking of Real, the big Champions League final will take place at Wembley on Saturday. You can find out all about it from sports betting expert Thorsten in his Dortmund Real Madrid tip!
The visitors have fallen short of their own expectations and will finish in the upper midfield. The Franjiverdes have only won one of their last ten matches, so things are going from bad to worse
With 43 goals in 41 games, the attack is frighteningly harmless, scoring more than one goal only eleven times! In general: only 14 times more than 2.5 goals? This team does not deliver the great spectacles.
There have been exactly six wins away from home, the last one two and a half months ago against Villarreal B. 18 goals? On average, they don’t even score once per match away from home!
Exactly three times more than one goal – making Elche one of the weakest teams in the league
Will Leganes finally celebrate the redemptive promotion together with the fans? A point on Sunday would be enough, but the team is not in the best of form. Good thing: Elche are definitely even worse.
I really haven’t found many positive facts about the visitors, especially away from home where the team is extremely clumsy and doesn’t score often. What’s more, there’s nothing left at stake for Franjiverdes.
All in all, I think the hosts are strong enough to cope with the pressure. Since Elche are not among the best, my final bet is:
Leganes win against Elche!
