With the return of the Premier League comes the return of the Monday night game. And here Leicester and Tottenham face each other.
The newly promoted side therefore have a home game to start the new season. A good omen, as they have not conceded a defeat in their last nine such games (6S, 3U).
However, and this is where the cat bites its tail, they have also been relegated in the three years in which they have lost an opening home game.
For the Londoners, meanwhile, it’s all about confirming last season’s form and perhaps getting even more out of it.
They also have a very good record when it comes to season openers. Only once in the last eight seasons have they started with a defeat (5S, 2U).

The prediction of the bookmakers?
They’ll have to make a few changes this season. Last year, the Foxes were the clear favorites in almost every second division match.

Analysis: Leicester vs Tottenham
However, this is likely to be a difficult task against the men from the north of the English capital.
After all, Spurs have not shown any weaknesses against teams from the lower end of the table recently. All four of their most recent wins in pre-season have come against teams in the basement.
There was also one win each against Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town in the previous season

In the Premier League, there is no duel that has been played at least 30 times and has produced so many goals.
3.8 goals have been scored in the 34 matches between the Foxes and Spurs to date. In the last five matches alone, an average of 5.6 goals have been scored.
However, I would not assume such a high scorecast in my Leicester Tottenham betting tip. However, if at least six goals are scored, the odds at Bwin Sportwetten are around 6.70.
If we set the leverage at 3.5 goals, which will be exceeded, the forecast is around 2.20.
However, betting providers such as NEObet consider it unlikely that the hosts will score at least twice, as they have done in five of the last six matches. The odds are over 2.70.
Leicester with a new look
After winning the championship and thus returning to the Premier League, it was time to build the squad for the top flight.
Only the pilot left the team. Coach Enzo Maresca joined Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and took Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall with him.
Without the midfield strategist of the previous season, it could be difficult at first, I reckon. However, coach Steve Cooper is very experienced in dealing with young players.
He has already done a good job at Nottingham Forest in the past two seasons, keeping the club in the league in their first year, mainly thanks to the home games
Tottenham and August
It has become a popular joke that Spurs have started the season well and are considered by some to be secret championship contenders.
But as soon as the word title is mentioned, they blow it at the next opportunity. This was also the case in the pre-season.
But that doesn’t matter for this game. The Londoners have not lost an away game in the month of August since 2015 (6S, 6U).
What’s more, they haven’t lost an away game on a Monday since 2011 (6S, 4U).
Whenever we talk about Leicester v Tottenham, the 2016 championship match always comes to mind.
Back then, the Foxes sensationally won the title. Once again, the Londoners, then still with Harry Kane, came away empty-handed
However, the recent past speaks more in favor of the capital city team. After all, they have won eight of their last eleven games (3N). Hotspur have also scored in 26 of their last 27 visits to Leicestershire.
One man who will help keep the streak alive is Heung-min Son. He has nine goals and four assists in the 14 PL duels with the Foxes!
My tip:
One way or another, it could be interesting to see how the promoted team performs. Will Steve Cooper stick to his offensive style of play?
The visitors also have a new star in the center of attack in Dominic Solanke. It should be clear how Spurs will play their game.
