Ligue 1, Sunday, 14.04.2024
Lyon have successfully corrected the completely botched first half of the season (14th) and moved into safe territory in Ligue 1 in the second half of the season.
Like Brest (22), the hosts are one of the three most successful teams in the second half of the season (22). In my Lyon Brest betting tip, I am therefore tempted to place a bet away from the winner.
The visitors in particular have one of the two best defenses in Ligue 1 this season (23 goals conceded). Based on this, I have made my decision and am playing with odds of 1.96 at NEObet “Both teams score: No.”
At the end of November, the Lyon management had seen enough and decided to change coach. However, hardly anyone would have thought such a turnaround possible.
At the end of November 2023, Pierre Sage took over the reins of “Les Gones” and transformed the team into a winning machine. The home side’s coach now has 15 wins from his first 21 competitive matches
European places have even returned to Olympique Lyon’s sights. The gap to sixth place is no longer more than five points.
The second-round table is already much more in line with expectations than 14th place after the first half of the season. With the exception of PSG (23), no team in the French top flight has been more successful than Sage’s troops (22).
The balance of power has been slowly but surely straightened out and this is reflected in the soccer betting odds on offer. Lyon are the favorites in this match at odds of up to 2.25 to win.
That may even suit the visitors from Brittany. With maximum odds of 3.40, a win for the second-placed team in the table is a clear candidate for an attractive free bet.
Éric Roy, coach at Brest, has imposed a leisurely tempo on his team, which at 1.66 m/s is in the same corridor as PSG and Nice.
Attacking soccer is only a necessary evil for the runners-up in the table anyway, as 41 goals scored suggest
Much more important for the visitors is their work against the ball. Brest (23) have conceded the fewest goals in Ligue 1 after Nice (22) and have already gone 13 league games without conceding a goal (3rd).
Over the season as a whole, the Red & Whites have kept 46% of their league games clean sheets, putting them in the top two teams in France.
Lyon already became acquainted with this outstandingly organized defence in the first half of the season. As guests in Brittany, “Les Gonens” lost 1:0.
If the home side also fail to score in their second clash with Brest, the Interwetten app has “value odds” of 3.80 waiting for your hungry eyes.
This scenario is not completely out of the question. With 40.1 expected goals, the hosts are only in mid-table in Ligue 1 (9th).
Apart from top scorer and captain Alexandre Lacazette (14), no player in Pierre Sage’s squad has scored more than four goals
It is not certain that the visitors will score either. Brest have left the pitch without scoring in 36% of their away games this season.
Lyon can also boast about their home defense. At home, Les Gones have sent their opponents home without scoring in 36 per cent of games
With these figures, it is by no means forbidden to take a closer look at Crazybuzzer’s odds of 1.79 for “Under 2.5 goals” in the match.
On average, Brest’s guest appearances offered only 2.07 goals in the entire match. Following on from this, the rate of only 36 percent of away games with over 2.5 goals in the match speaks a similar language.
From the running game, no backline is harder to crack than Stade Brest (16 goals conceded).
Especially in connection with only 22 goals from the game (Lyon), the visitors can force a low-scoring game, which would play extremely into their hands.
My Lyon Brest tip is: Both teams will NOT score
