Paul Nebel came to Bruchweg in 2016 as a 13-year-old, and after a loan spell in Karlsruhe, the midfielder has established himself as a regular in Mainz since the 2024/25 season. On Friday, the Bundesliga club announced that the now 24-year-old has now extended his contract with Mainz. The club did not announce a term for the new contract. Sporting director Niko Bungert praised Nebel as a “prime example of how a player from our own youth academy can develop into a very important player for our Bundesliga team with a lot of heart and soul, patience and down-to-earthness”.
