FSV Mainz 05 has strengthened its defensive midfield with the signing of Lennard Maloney. As the 05ers announced on Tuesday, the native Berliner with US-American roots signed a contract until 2028. According to sports director Niko Bungert, the “absolute mentality player” is the perfect fit for Mainz in terms of sport – as Maloney himself also finds: “Sometimes you quickly realize during the first conversations with the sports management and the trainer that you will get along well.” The 25-year-old will wear the number 15 shirt for the team currently in sixth place in the Bundesliga.
