From an odds perspective, the starting position in the Manchester City vs Manchester United prediction is more than clear. The Red Devils finished the 2023/24 season seven places and 31 points behind their neighbors.
United also scored 39 fewer goals and conceded 24 more. The bookmakers have odds of between 1.33 and 1.35 without tax for a Sky Blues victory after 90 minutes.
You can earn considerably more if United win in regular time. In this case, the odds are around eight times the stake. However, the risk here is of course also much greater.

In the last two years, Manchester City have suffered from periods of weakness from time to time. But in the final sprint of a season, when it counts most, coach Pep Guardiola’s team impresses with merciless consistency.
The Sky Blues conceded all of their defeats in the first half of this Premier League season. The Citizens also finished the league without a single home defeat (14S, 5U).
Manchester City are unbeaten in 35 competitive matches (29S, 6U). In the league, the 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on December 6 was followed by 23 games without defeat.
After two draws, the Champions League quarter-final defeat to Real Madrid only came in a penalty shoot-out and is therefore counted as a draw in the official statistics
The serial champions have won their last nine league games and, with attackers such as Erling Haaland and Phil Foden, also boast the best offense (96 goals).
This takes the club to a total of 17 titles in eight years under the Spanish coach. Man City are now aiming to win their seventh FA Cup in the club’s history.
MCFC have also won seven of 12 FA Cup finals. However, they have never won the competition twice in a row. Their last defeat in the final came in 2013, when they lost 1-0 to Wigan Athletic.
At that time, the team was still coached by Roberto Mancini. In the domestic cup competitions, City have won all six finals under Guardiola.
Analysis of odds
In the recent past, Manchester derbies have been synonymous with goals. A total of 27 goals have been scored in the last six duels between the two neighbors.
The bookies are also predicting a number of goals in the current Manchester City vs Manchester United preview. The odds for the bet “Over 2.5 goals” do not even make it to the 1.50 mark.

With 60 points, United also missed out on international business by three points and two places. Only with a win against City on Saturday would Manchester still be represented in Europe next season.
Coach ten Hag’s job is anything but safe. Even with a win in the FA Cup, the coach could be handed his walking papers. Rumor has it that Brighton coach de Zerbi is ready to take over.
The Red Devils have won just ten of 19 games at Old Trafford with a goal difference of 31:28 (3U, 6N). A further eight defeats came away from home (8S, 3U).
No team has reached the FA Cup final as often as Man United (22 times). In terms of titles, only Arsenal (14) are better than the Red Devils (12). The last triumph dates back to 2016
