Premier League matchday 28, Sunday, 09.03.2025 at 17:30
13 points behind with one game to go – that will be difficult, very difficult! Arsenal FC are the clear number two in England, no more, but certainly no less. On Sunday, the Gunners travel to one of their favorite opponents of the last two years.
Who do I see ahead in my Manchester United Arsenal betting tip? That’s answered in a flash: The visitors, and by a clear margin.
Well, things haven’t gone according to plan in the league recently, but a nice 7:1 in the Champions League against Eindhoven should boost their confidence
The home side from Manchester, on the other hand, just don’t want to settle down, there’s a win here and there, but a 3:2 against the relegation candidates from Ipswich really doesn’t trigger any storms of joy. And the Red Devils know that they have lost all of their last four matches against Arsenal in the league.
In my analysis, I naturally have a few more facts for you as to why I’m backing the Londoners to win this clash. The visitors are of course missing a few attacking stars, but that was also the case in the 7:1 win against PSV.
Manchester United fans probably won’t like my tip quite as much, but things just aren’t going well in 2024/25. Therefore, the hosts might even have to be careful that it doesn’t end up being clear.
The prediction of the bookmakers?
After two games without a win, Arsenal FC are under pressure. According to our tax-free betting providers, however, there is optimism that they will get a three-pointer on Sunday. The “Tip 2” brings you odds of 1.80.
On the other hand, Manchester United have lost half of their home games, not exactly the best advertisement. If you still want to bet on a win against Arsenal, you’re taking a big risk, but you can also win a lot at odds of 4.80.
A draw would hardly help either team. There was a draw in the FA Cup a few weeks ago, with United advancing on penalties. If it is indeed a game without a winner, the classic odds are 3.50.
Analysis: Manchester United vs Arsenal
0:1 against West Ham and 0:0 against Nottingham – for the third time this season, Arsenal FC have now had a brace of winless games. They are already 13 points behind Liverpool, but have also played one game less.
Nevertheless, the title is currently out of reach and securing second place seems more realistic. No goals twice in a row? That could well be due to the fact that Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, three key players in attack, are missing
The last time the Gunners failed to score three times in a row was in August 2021, so they will be looking to avoid that now. A few days ago, Arsenal took on Eindhoven in the Champions League with a good starting position for the second leg of the last 16 at stake.
The result despite the absences: A brilliant 7:1! The players naturally want to take this momentum into the league, especially as they don’t do quite as well away from home as they do at home.
Rating Analysis
You already know that I’m going for an away win in the 1×2 bets. However, as United have already conceded five clear home defeats, I can also imagine a 0:1 handicap, which pushes the odds up to 3.05.
At the same time, the last three head-to-head duels have produced fewer than 2.5 goals. Since Arsenal are lacking offensive power and it may be that a lot of powder has been shot in the premier class, I plead for under 2.5 goals at odds of 1.65.
At the same time, these two tips do not allow many conclusions if you want to bet on the result. So I’m betting on a 0:2, with odds of 7.00 the risk is manageable in relation to a specific result.
Will Arsenal take their CL form with them?
With seven wins, five draws and two defeats, the odds in terms of matches won are only 50 percent. However, four of the wins have come in the last six rounds and the Gunners have not conceded a goal in three away games.
In the first half of the season, they did just that against Manchester United, winning 2-0. Jurrien Timber and William Saliba scored the goals, so it was possible without Havertz and Saka.
The FA Cup exit in January was less pleasing, but Arsenal can look back on four consecutive league wins against Manchester United. In the last seven years, they have lost twice at Old Trafford, which is also a decent record.
Everything goes wrong at United
2018 was the last time Arsenal lost to United in a second leg. The Red Devils are almost a little envious of the problems their next opponents are facing, as this season seems to have run out of steam.
With a tally of nine wins, six draws and twelve defeats, plus 33:39 goals, things are not going well at all. A few days ago, they hung on for a 3-2 win against Ipswich, which is obviously not up to their own standards.
It was the second home win since the beginning of December, but the Red Devils have conceded at least two goals in six of their last seven home games. Crystal Palace, Brighton, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Nottingham – since December 1, they have lost to these five teams alone.
What the team really hasn’t managed to do yet: Winning twice in a row. So it’s almost unfortunate that the last result was a 3:2 against Ipswich. If they don’t win NOW …
.. it will be the first time since 1968/69 that they have had to wait so long for a brace! Only twice in the entire season, which is both interesting and frightening, have United taken a lead into the break in a home game.
Since the Red Devils have already trailed six times after the first 45 minutes, you can perhaps risk the “Tip 2” at half-time. At Interwetten, the corresponding odds land at 2.35.
My Man United Arsenal tip:
Manchester United are longing for the end of the 2024/25 season, because whatever the Red Devils try, nothing improves. Wins are in short supply, goals conceded unfortunately not, and their own stadium no longer helps much either.
Arsenal FC may not be doing everything perfectly either, but I was pretty impressed by their Champions League win. The missing key players were replaced wonderfully, and United have been a welcome opponent of late anyway.
The bottom line is that I think a win for the home side on Sunday would be very surprising. Arsenal want and need to win again after two games without a win and I think they will do just that. My tip is therefore:
Arsenal win at Old Trafford!
