Conscious hours on Boxing Day – or as they say in the Premier League: On to Boxing Day! It’s that time again, the Christmas tradition on the island is turning many a family celebration on its head.
My gaze now turns towards St. James Park. There, two teams from the extended top flight will face off, both of whom must therefore play to win. In my Newcastle Aston Villa betting tip, I’ll tell you why I’m expecting a tight game and why I say: Nobody can play to nil here!
A series consisting of two wins? No, that’s not up to our own standards! Newcastle United would like to see more consistency, more successful games in a row, more of a push towards the top flight.
The Magpies may be up there at the top, but they are a few points behind. Seven wins from 17 rounds is simply not enough to challenge the best in the country.

Speaking of your own stadium, is there a recognizable trend regarding the venue? I would answer that with a crystal-clear “no”. 1:0 against Arsenal, 3:3 against Liverpool or 2:1 against Tottenham, home games can end really successfully.
0:2 against West Ham or 0:1 against Brighton? These results were all the more incomprehensible. The bottom line is that Newcastle are strong at home, but always have the potential to slip up.
The Magpies only managed to win two home games in a row right at the start of the season – after the 4-0 win against Leicester, it would now be time to repeat this feat.
Very interesting: Five times the team went into the dressing room with a 1-0 lead after 45 minutes, three times it was 0-1. That automatically brings me to one or two betting recommendations for you:

Do Newcastle generally like playing against Aston Villa? They have won four of their last five games, but what’s more interesting is that they haven’t lost a home game since April 2005.

So I shouldn’t overestimate them? The team, which has shown a brutally strong side in the Champions League, has failed to back up these results in domestic competition for months.
They have only scored twice and Aston Villa have yet to keep a clean sheet away from home. With three wins and a draw, this season actually got off to an excellent start away from home.
At some point in the fall, the Villans finally collapsed completely and have now lost four games in a row. 1:4 against Tottenham, 0:2 at Anfield, 0:3 against Chelsea and 1:2 against Nottingham, which was also extremely thin offensively.
Newcastle are on the offensive! After scoring 13 goals in their last four games and a very turbulent run of home games – Alexander Isak has a lot to thank for that – the fans will of course be hoping that the attacking spirit continues.
Aston Villa, and this fact is particularly important in my eyes, have yet to win away from home. The visitors seem to be getting back into their stride, but they have a very poor away record.
